Super tight, but only at night?

Recommended Posts

Hey gang.

I'm on my 4th fill, somewhere around 7cc in a 10cc band. Since this last fill I've been having a lot of trouble at night with reflux and choking, but it only happens at night. During the day I'm fine.

I suppose an unfill is in order, but before I try that I thought I'd see if anyone had suggestions? I really like this fill's effectiveness, I'm down 10 lbs in 2 weeks.

Try not going to bed right after you eat, allowing a 2 hrs. period should give you time enough for your pouch to be empty by the time you lay down. A cup of warm tea before going to bed might help, too (it «washes out» your pouch).

Hi, I have been taking an antibiotic for the last week and I have noticed that number one, I have to grind it up since my last fill has me tight beyond belief, and number two, I have to also wait before I go to bed at night. Otherwise, I have reflux for a couple of hours after lying down. Not fun!!! One night I even vomited in my sleep and that's when I decided to wait a few hours after taking the medicine before I go to bed. I think you are experiencing the same thing. Can't hurt to try it. Hope my experience helps.

2 suggestions. An anti acid and don't eat later than around 5pm. Try that first. If that doesn't work you will need a slight unfill. This happened to a friend of mine and I believe .2 or .3 ccs helped.

my doctor wants us to get an unfill if we have any reflux or night cough because that is what leads to erosion/slippage.

HOWEVER..with that said..when they think they have given you a really tight fill (false hope :frown:) they say you can "ride it out" by sleeping with your head elevated and never eating or taking a pill 3 hours before bed.

so far i haven't had to do this. i'll be kind of glad when i do because my night time muchies are killer.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
