It didn't take them this long to approve my surgery. I'm still losing though and haven't gained anything - so I'm not too upset. The people I work with are more upset than me. They don't know why Dr. B. won't go ahead and just do the surgery since it is a complication and nothing I've done. They think he should work out the payment/insurance later and get me fixed...It'll work out good though with my folks coming. DH's mom is going to the beach the week after the 13th and she usually keeps the kids for us in the summer...so I'd need a babysitter that week. Now my mom and dad can just take the kids back with them to Florida after my surgery...it will all work out.

Last night it the first time food got stuck on me. I was eating a baked chicken patty (one of those by Tyson's/breaded). I normally dip it in dressing or something - I ate it dry and didn't chew, chew, chew and Whoa Momma! I grabbed DH's sweet tea and drank it (I HATE SWEET TEA!)...I was desparate!!! Only gotta learn that one once. Up until now it wasn't like I had a band, it was like it had to pop up and wave hello to remind me it is there. I didn't PB or throw up thank goodness, but I began to wonder...

Leslie - *hug* hang in there! I know it sucks for you to have to wait!

I haven't updated my WL ticker because my darn barely 4 month old scales are torn up. I initially thought it was the battery but low and behold we can't figure out what is wrong. I know I'm losing because today I fit into a pair of capris that I have been trying to get on every week since my surgery! It was sort of my 'first goal' britches!! And today, I have them on at work!!! So Go me! And as soon as our vacation bible school is over and I have a free moment I am running to Walmart and buying me some new darn scales! I know I haven't been posting much. I check in every day or so, but I am *SO* busy right now with this wedding and vacation bible school every night this week has NOT helped!! I tried on my wedding dress for the very last fitting before she does alterations and I could immediately tell a difference in it! I can't wait till this is all over and my big day is here! It will be such a releif to be off to Jamaica for a week of RELAXATION and boy will I need it! Keep up the good work guys!

Way to go Mia. Leslie, I am sorry for your problems with your port. Girls, I am sorry, but I just cannot get out in this heat and work out. It is way too hot. I am a fair complected red head and cant deal with being out in the sun forever. When the boys and I go to the pool, I stay i the shade! When the weather cools a little, I will walk. However, I am working out at the gym - yay me.

Keep up the good work everyone.

Oh, and since my fill Tuesday, I am able to eat today, had a Protein Shake and some chicken salad, and just recently, about 10 almonds. That is it for the day and I have not been hungry.

Take care all.

Hey paragirl - it's okay about walking. It is hot - this week has been horrible. Honestly, it isn't too bad where we walk - it is completely shaded by trees/forrest. I would guess about 15 degree difference. I ended up going swimming yesterday and the Water was a nice change. Good for you in hitting the gym! Let us know when you want to join us - you're more than welcome.

My DH is a redhead too - he burns very easily. He's actually peeling right now from going to the beach a couple weeks ago.

Mia - girl you sound swamped! Sounds like your big day is getting closer...What is the date? You need to post some more pics to see your dress...I know it was your avatar at one time, but I'm wanting details!

I'm anxious to get this revision over - but can't do anything about hurrying it along. It is what it is. Of course, BCBS will probably approve me tomorrow, that's how things work...

I know how it is to eat something that I don't chew well enough or is just something that I can no longer eat. It is a very uncomfortable feeling and something I would rather not experience again.

My wedding is June 21 ! I cannot waiiiiiiiiiiit! As it draws near, I'm finding it hard to chain Bridezilla up! I've done so good about not freaking out but it's getting harder and harder to remain calm especially when things don't go perfect! It's funny though, I ask all my married friends certain things about their wedding to get ideas and 90 percent can't remember the detail!! So I keep asking myself why I'm stressing over something that really obviously is not big in the grand scale of things... I guess the important thing is you get married...so as long as we do that, I shouldn't stress, right?! MUCH easier said than done!

Friday the 13th. Terri called and said the insurance approved my revision on Friday. I'm scheduled for the 13th of June. I was so bummed out yesterday - imagining it would take another month for them to make up their minds. My self-control is about to break. I've been wanting to binge so bad - I've had such horrible cravings the last couple of days...back to that emotional eating.

Today is a new day! I don't want anything bad, nor have I attacked the pringles. I hope everyone is doing great and hope ya'll post an update as to your progress. It's been a while...

Mia- I'm soooo excited for you! You are going to make a beautiful bride. I'm not sure it's possible not to stress about the wedding....I know I did, lol! Just enjoy every moment, chaos and all. I was a bridezilla too, but once it was all over, I missed it. Sounds crazy but true. Anyway, I wish and your fiance the best! I will be at the beach while you are on your honeymoon, so have a good time and be safe!

Leslie- I'm so glad you got your approval. I know you are relieved. I too am an emotional eater, so I know how you feel. Just do the best you can and hopefully after your fill during surgery, you will feel some restriction! You're doing great...hang in there!

As far as me, I'm doing pretty good. Had a rough night though. My 2 year old son had a virus last night and was throwing up every 30 minutes. It was awful but he is feeling good this morning.

I haven't weighed in a while. I decided I was going to try to go without it for a while. I just switched my diet plan so I'm gonna give it some time before I weigh. I am noticing changes in my clothes, so I know I am losing inches. I know I will get discouraged if I don't see a number change, so I'm boycotting the scales for just a bit longer.

Hi everyone,

I hope that everyone has had a good weekend. Well I go for my surgery on Friday. I am excited but kinda nervous at the same time. I am trying so hard to not drink any more soda's. I love my diet coke though so it is hard. My husband said well at least now the diet coke truck can stop coming to the house. He thought he was being funny.

I was wondering can someone tell me how to get the ticker?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
