Dr. John Bagnato - Bagnato Bandits

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone!

I thought I would give ya'll an update on my situation. I went to the doctor again on Friday and he said that my leg was looking really good. I have been sanitizing my house from top to bottom and washing my hands A LOT, lol! I feel much better now, thank all of you for your support and prayers.

My shoulder is still bothering me quite a bit though. I'm not sure if the med is helping or not. If it doesn't clear up, I will have to get an X-RAY and possibly go through physical therapy again. I went through it several years ago (I had a spur on my shoulder and had to do physical therapy and cortisone shots). I am hoping I don't have to go through all that again. All in all, I'm feeling so much better.

I will start working out again on Monday (just cardio, no strength training for now). Again, thanks for your support, it is much appreciated!

Oh, about the meeting. Sundays are not good for me. We normally do not get out of church until 12:30 or so and I have to be back at 4:30 for choir practice. Since I live an hour away, it's just too much for me.

If Sunday is good for most of you, please go ahead and meet. I don't think we will ever pick a day that's good for everyone, so please go ahead and meet if it's good for ya'll. It won't hurt my feelings at all.

Maybe we could rotate meetings or something. Maybe a Sunday this month, a Saturday the next month, a Thursday night the next, etc. (You get my drift). What do ya'll think about that?

Pamela

Glad to hear you are feeling a little better.

Rotation sounds great, that way we give everyone a chance to join in. Like you said no one day is going to work out for everyone. Take care

I just realized I am no longer obese, just overweight!!!! I never imagined myself being back at this weight, much less having the prospect of getting back to a normal healthy weight.

This afternoon I was on the phone with my dad and he told me how proud he was of me for doing so well with my weight loss. There is no way to describe how great that made me feel. For a long time I have felt like he was disappointed in me for getting fat, though he never really said it. I have always been his "baby" and I didn't realize how much I still strive for his approval and praise. Anyway I guess what I am saying is all the complements I have gotten have been great but nothing like hearing Daddy say how proud he is of me. Guess I'll always be Daddy's little girl.

Congrats Jeannie, that's awesome!! I can't wait to be "overweight", as strange as that sounds, lol.

I am also the baby of the family and I am definitely still daddy's little girl, I always will be. It is funny that no matter how old we get, we still want to please our parents.

You have done so well, Jeannie. Keep up the good work!

Jeannie,

I'm sitting at my keyboard shedding crocodile tears at your father's expressing his pride in your achievement. I was an only child, and was definitely "daddy's girl." He died 8 years ago, but I still miss him terribly. I wish so much that I had never gained all this weight. He, like your dad, never said anything about my weight, but I could tell he was disappointed.

Even though I've had the surgery, I'll never hear those words from him telling me how proud of me he is. You are blessed.

Holly

Jeannie, Congrats for being overweight! LOL - only on LapBand Talk could you say that!

I know what you mean about daddy's approval. It was actually a comment from my dad the was the final push I needed to have the surgery. I told him I was thinking about it and then he told me how worried he had become over the weight I'd gained over the years. It was a wake-up call. I knew I had gained a lot and I knew I needed to loose it, but I didn't think I was at the point yet of causing worry. It really hit me hard. My parents are divorced and he lives in SC. He was here about a month ago, and I look forward to when he comes back in May. Hopefully, he'll see a difference in me then!

Whoohoo for Jeannie! Girl I know you are thrilled to be overweight. Like Pam, I can't wait to be overweight too! LOL

I'm a daddy's girl too and I know how much his approval means to me. I'm so happy for you.

Okay ya'll...I'm finally on mushies, but I've got to tell you I seem to get hungrier and hungrier. I can only eat a little bit, but it doesn't seem to stay with me. I don't want to stretch my pouch and and am terrified of slippage, so I'm doing my best not to give into eating all the time. My first fill isn't until May 22. What do I do until then?

I'm also obsessed with the scale. I know I don't need to weigh all the time. I find myself weighing in the mornings and at night. Saturday I was at 233 and this morning 237..WTF? Is my body freaking out on me?

Confused and frustrated...

Leslie, the scale went up for me as soon as I added mushies. I would think that is normal since you were essentially on a starvation diet to that point (Dr. B's words). What helped me get through this stage is what I read everyone on the boards....you have a new car (the band) but no gas in the tank (a fill). You will definitely get hungrier as the days go by. I ate less during that time, but probably didn't eat as a true bandster either. That is probably why the scale didn't budge once I ate real food either! Try to eat more Protein if you can since that will make you feel fuller longer. I'm definitely doing that now that I have had a fill (still can't feel any difference) and it is helping me. Good luck - you are in what they call Banster Hell right now!

Hey everyone. I am scheduled for my surgery on Monday. I am in the freak-out stage right now, which is multiplied by PMS. Not a good scene.

I realized I kind of jumped in here without introducing myself - I really was raised better than that! Like I said, I am scheduled w/ Dr. B for surgery on 4/28. I live about an hour from Albany and grew up in South GA. I am married with no kids yet (keeping fingers crossed) and I work outside home. I have been overweight since college, so for about 10 years.

This may have been discussed already, but how did you deal w/ people at work? Several people at my work know I am having some kind of surgery, but only one person I work with knows what it is. One woman in particular has been quizzing everyone. She asked me point blank what I was having done, and got obviously irritated when I sweetly said 'oh, just an small elective thing, no big deal. Thanks for your concern, tho.' Also, I think she got on my computer and saw what web sites I visit, including this one. She has even "wondered" to my secretary if I was getting lap band. My secretary is the greatest, tho, and shut her down cold.

Anybody else been tempted to tell someone to mind their own gal-dang business? The PMS is making me kind of want to - I hate to say this, but - get in her face. Not nice!

Don't worry, it's totally normal. My weight went up and down for a while after I started mushies. Just do the best you can until your fill. Have you started any type of exercising? I know you can't do anything strenuous yet, but has Dr. B cleared you to walk? Walking will help in keeping you from gaining until your fill.

Onder woman

Congrats on your surgery coming up. Wow, less than a week away.

As far as your work situation goes, some people just need to be told to mind their own business. Most people will respect your decision not to share, but some are just too nosey. Maybe your secretary hushed her up. Hopefully she will not continue to ask you about it. If she continues, you may just have to point blank tell her it's none of business. Then maybe she will get it, lol!

Anyway, good luck with your surgery on Monday. Be sure to check in when you feel like posting.

Erika, I didn't tell but a select few at work before my surgery. Everyone knew something was going on and even asked. I had one girl ask if I was sick and had a terminal disease (all the doctor's appointments and all). I just laughed and told her no I am fine. It about drove her crazy. Afterward it kinda slipped out and she couldn't believe I didn't tell her. I told her I wanted to keep it to myself and only told who I had to. She said she would have understood, but to meeveryone has an opinion. I didn't want any negativity so I avoided it. If you don't want to tell anyone, don't! It'll kill them wanting to know what is going on...for me it was a personal preference and actually quite amusing to watching them dance that dance.

After surgery, now everyone here knows and they are so inquisitive. What are you eating? How are you feeling? I even have a co-worker that wants to have it done now.

Congrats on your surgery date, onder woman! As for work people, I only told two, both close coworkers (one is actually my assistant, but we've been friends for years). Another coworker guessed. I was back at work after my surgery and she knew I was on a restricted diet (work meeting involving food). I could tell she was really thinking about it and since she has a medical background, she just guessed. I trust her totally to keep it to herself. Nobody else at work knows and I don't plan to tell them until much later. I don't want people scrutinizing me to see if I'm loosing like they think I should. In my personal life, I've only told a handful of people, too, for the same reason. I may feel more comfortable telling people later, but it isn't anyone's business right now.

There is one person I told that I didn't intend to tell. She knew I had investigated it, and when I was going out for "outpatient surgery," she asked what I was having done. Not being nosey...she was genuinely concerned. I told her a hernia repair (that was my standard lie), and then she asked me all kinds of questions from there since her DH was having it done! OOPS! I had to 'fess up since I obviously didn't know what I was talking about...rofl.

Congrats Jeannie! Can't wait to be where you are girl! I'm not a daddy's girl, I was always a mama's girl and my mom is gone now too. But, Like Holly, I know they are cheering us on from a place where size isn't an issue anymore. Way to go girl!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
