My mom was so excited because she found out Mailhanlers (sp) paid for LB, but when the doctors office applied they discovered Medicare was primary and not MH. Now it looks like she will have to pay. She's 73 and on a fixed income so I guess we'll see how much they will pay. She's diabetic and was so looking forward to getting off meds.

Pat the last I heard Medicare was still paying for some of the WL surgery. I know they are thinking of stopping that, but maybe if she gets her stuff in right away, she might still be approved. Good Luck!

If she has both coverages she may still not have to pay for much. Submit the claims to Medicare and let them pay what they will, and then submit them again to Mailhandlers. Whatever is covered by MH and not paid by Medicare should be paid in accordance with the MH policy. The fact that Medicare is primary just means that it gets the bills first.

I thought that the US rarely approves any kind of wls for anyone under 18 or over 60? Is this a myth?
