Does 14cc band give same restriction as 10cc band?

Recommended Posts

Mona, it's sort of like when someone is choking you..... Makes no difference if it is Hulk Hogan or Twiggy. Choked is choked and I would imagine it would be the same with the band. You put enough saline in there and sooner or later, you're gonna get restriction. Don't you think?

Thank you everyone!

That answers my questions perfectly.

I have my first post-op check up on Feb 6th but the Surgeon said that I won't get my first fill until 7 weeks post-op. I appreciate all of your posts and input.

My doctor puts the same size band on everyone. Stomach size was never mentioned.

That's interesting. Most bands come in small and large sizes (or some other name variant). I am uncertain if the Realize band comes in two sizes, though.

Thanks for this whole thread. I learned HEAPS!!! Just a query, my doctor has said he uses 9.75cm & 10cm Lapbands and the APS Lapband all 3 having a balloon capacity of 5cc. I have emailed him to ask what that means. Does anyone here know?

My band date is 26th February 2008 in Mexico.

If you have a choice, I'd ask for the AP band. And there is no way they all have a 5cc capacity. I'm not sure what he means by this. But it doesn't really matter. Doesn't hurt to ask for the box, though. That way you know what band you received (I have mine, it's a neat keepsake!).

I have the 14cc band and am filled 8cc so far. Just got the last fill on Dec 3rd. I stayed on pureed Soups for 7 days and am now just starting to bring in some solids. I have lost 101.5 since May-07. My surgery was in Dec-07. I have stayed on the weight watcher plan and worked out 5-7 days per week, every week. I really believe exercise is the key. I don't know how much more fills I can do. This last one has been the hardest. I really have had to try one thing at a time again to see if it will or will not work.

Good luck on your journeys.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
