Recommended Posts

Going for appointment today.

Nervous about what he will say, as I already have over 4 cc's in my 4 cc band.

scale still isn't budging though.

I have a good 40 - 50 lbs to loose

I'll let you know when I come back

Ok went to doc's he filled me to 4.6 cc's (in 4cc band)

He said it can be stretched to 5 cc's.

I really hope this works. Cause after I reach 5 cc's its just me by myself (no more restriction possible) Its causing me to freak out somewhat. I would love to know that in the future I could have some left to help me out throughout my lifetime!!

But on the otherhand as crazy as it seems, I am enjoying the liquid (detox) stage, I hope it gives me the boost that I need!!!

Whats going on with you guys (other febs that are here!!:tongue2:)

Just hit my 1-year anniversary. Overall it's been a very good year. I feel and look much better--down about 65 pounds and just about to hit "onederland." I haven't established any kind of exercise routine which I think is key to long-term health and sustained weight loss. And I truly have all my old food issues--the head hunger thing is a bear. However, the band keeps me in check and gives me hope that I can continue to work to a heathly weight and a much healthier relationship with food.

I have very much appreciated this forum and being able to share in other's experiences.

Howdy, Y'all! I thought I would join in with my 1-year anniversary story as well. I was banded February 23, 2007 and this has been an absolutely wonderful experience for me! I have had zero complications and feel so much better physically and mentallly. I started out at 226 pounds and wearing a size 16/18 and x-large scrubs (I'm a nurse) and I am now at goal at 140-144 pounds and wearing a size 6-8 and small to x-small scrubs! I have never in my adult life worn a size 6-8! It is amazing to me! I have only done small amounts of exercise throughout this journey (bad me, I know!) but I am much more active than I used to be and am planning to up my exercise routine. I do have some sagging skin issues but since I was self-pay for the banding there is no way I can afford any plastic surgery and I don't think I would choose to have any done anyway so I will just deal with the skin as best I can! Clothes cover it all up anyway! I can eat anything at all that I want and have been eating a lot of junk food lately and am amazed that I have not gained back any weight! I am tired of the crap food, though, and plan to get back to my low carb, healthy food ASAP. Like several of Y'all have mentioned I still think of myself as "big" and constantly buy clothes that are too big for me. The mind and self-image is a crazy thing! Even though I haven't posted too often here I read the boards very frequently and appreciate everyone sharing your experiences here. Congrats to everyone as we approach our anniversary! Can you just imagine how fun this summer is going to be! Woo-Hoo!

Mary

Hi, everyone! I just celebrated my 1 year bandiversary on Tuesday. What's this last year been like - amazing! I had wanted to reach 75 lbs. by one year. While I didn't quite make it, I came darn close at 72.6! I have been stalled for 2 months - losing and gaining the same 3-4 lbs. until last week. I still have a long way to go but have no doubts I'll reach my goal. I want to lose around 85 more pounds - I'm close to halfway. Honestly, I didn't work too hard to get the first 65 lbs. off and have come to realize to get the rest of this off, I am going to have to do some work. I was fairly good about exercising in the fall, but I lost my baby-sitter (my DH works out of town during the week) and blah, blah, blah. There are a million excuses but the fact is, I simply haven't made myself get back into the habit of doing it. Regardless, I feel so much better than I did this time last year and think this next year is going to be even better.

Congratulations to all February 2007 bandsters on your anniversaries!:)

Happy Bandiversary Everyone!!

My bandiversary was 4 days ago. I am down 60 lbs.....40 lbs less than my original goal. I had some set backs, the biggest one being myself. I am working on a new outlook and I plan on reaching my goal this time.

I am glad to be down 60 lbs though. This is the first year ever that I haven't gained weight.

I wish everyone much success in our 2nd year!!

Happy Bandiversary. I started my process in Sep 06 with medically supervised weight loss/nutritionist ect after a friend of mine told me about the surgery. Qualified for surgery Jan 4, 2007 and banded 2/16. The journey has been great. Highest weight was 221 and currently weight 170 on good days. I haven't had any complications, no PBs or anything. Weight loss has been slow so that has been the hardest part. Been at the same weight since Nov and filled to 3.2cc. Debating if I should try another fill. I'm apple shaped so I haven't dropped too many sizes and am wearing a 14. I'd love to be a 6-8 so have started going to the gym to hopefully get there. We have a family cruise planned in July so I definitely want to feel comfortable in a bathing suit. I'm considering a PS consultation to see what we can do about my gut. I'd be smaller if it wasnt for my belly. I tried on my sisters size 10 pants and have no problems getting them past my hips, they just wont button. I am so glad I chose to have the surgery and can't wait to see what this year brings. i'm more confident at work and overall feel healthier.

Dixiecharm,

You must look at it this way..you wanted this, and you still want it, even though it might seem it. Just go easy. i went through a little of that and basically i picked up bad habits. So what if the food is cold. Take a smaller portion, then go back for more and heat it up so that you are re-heating and re-heating. what is the doctor saying? if you are having issues swallowing, in the beginning of eating, then something is wrong, so I would see a different doctor. Don't give up as you don't really want to. If you did, you wouldn't be upset in the least about it and it is very obvious that you are very upset about all this.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
