Hi All,

Just got banded on Wed and home form the hospital on Thur. Seem to be doing alright at this point. I am really surprised that I have no interest in food so far and have to keep reminding myself to drink enough Clear liquids.

Hi everyone! I am Julie, 31 years old, in Los Angeles, CA. I live with my lovely boyfriend (hopefully soon-to-be fiance!) of 3 years and work in sales. I basically talk on the phone to professional photographers all day, which is pretty cool, especially since I am also a photographer and artist.

I was banded this past Monday February 4th by Dr. Nishi at Cedars-Sinai hospital. My highest weight was 239, surgery weight was 223 and I am 5'5. I am looking to get down to about 140-150, depending on where my body decides it wants to be. I just want to be/feel healthy.

So far my incisions haven't bothered me much, it's the GAS that is painful! I've been walking a ton which helps, but I'm definitely looking forward to when it goes away for good!

I'm on liquids for 3 weeks total, then mushies for a week and then back to solids. I haven't been very hungry yet, though the smell of my boyfriend's dinners are really nice! Prior to surgery I went through 4 months of an extensive outpatient eating disorder program and I go to my individual therapist every week, so I've been working A LOT on the whole emotional aspect of eating.

It's awesome to see how nice, supportive and compassionate everyone is here! I'm proud to be a member.

(sorry for the novel!!)

Hey Julie...

We sound identical!! I was banded on 2/5 and felt great MINUS the gas...ugh!! The walking definitely helps. I'm on Clear Liquids until Monday then "Full liquids" for 5-7 days then on to mushies. I'm not really hungry just feel weak due to the lack of calories. C'mon...40 calories a day on clear's? BUT...I'm just so thrilled that my recovery is going well and that my journey is starting off on the right foot. Glad you're part of the group and keep us updated on your progress!!

Amy

Hi Everyone,

I'm on Day #5 of the after-surgery liquid diet. This is really, really hard for me, but hey, I'm here and I'm determined. I didn't have a lot of pain after surgery, but I've been taking it easy and not pushing myself at all. I spend the days mostly watching TV, reading, sleeping, etc. I do walk to help with the gas and as a result, I haven't had any gas pains at all. This could be just plain luck. I am drinking 60mg. of Isopure (protein), per day as per the nutritionist in addition to having low-sodium chicken broth and Jello. I can't wait until Tuesday, when I can add in some thicker liquids. I'm craving those thicker liquids!

I'll be 55 at the end of March. This is my last-ditch effort to get healthy.

b.

Hi everyone,

just joined today. my surgery is on Wed., Feb 20 and I'm excited! starting at 288 and hope to get to 150 by next spring. Married 36 years to a wonderful man, 2 grown kids and three grandsons. Sounds like I'm the oldest at 59!! I just couldn't be fat anymore. need to feel good again. can't wait to get back to walking and my elliptical. my knees and hips have been sore for a few years now when I walk. hope to get encouragement and help from this forum.

Started at Shadyside Weight Management classes last March 2007, was approved by insurance in October 2007, last dr. appt. was Jan 28th when I finally decided to go with the Lapband. bypass seemed too radical and my family is much happier I decided to go with lapband. I'm with Dr. Courcoulas at Magee Hospital in Pittsburgh. Wish me luck!

Hi! I'm Michelle from AZ. I am 39, married with kids. :biggrin2: Anywho, my starting weight is 236 and I'm 5'6". I've struggled with weight all of my adult life but it wasn't until after I had our last baby that it got out of control. I've got a lot of living to do! Plus recently, our oldest daughter and her husband made us Grandparents! I've got a baby to keep up with now. How fun is that?! Well, I'm getting banded on Feb. 22nd by Dr. Aceves. I'm excited and nervous but I know that's all normal. I just can't wait to get started with my new healthy lifestyle.

Nice to meet you all!

Michelle

Where in St. Louis are you having your surgery. I just got my band yesterday at DePaul Hospital. Dr. Scott is my doctor. Good luck to you! If you have questions, just ask.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
