Flabby Skin at our age??

Recommended Posts

I'm brand spankin' new to this forum as I'm still a few months away from my surgery but i do have questions and LOT'S of them. One questions is how do you all feel about your loose flabby skin at this age? I'm expecting I'll have lots of it (I need to lose about 130 lbs) and wonder if I'll be bummed at the excess skin. I'm not one to have surgery unless it's really needed and I doubt I'll ever have a Tummy Tuck. Is it hard to accept this excess skin? :confused5:

Hello gal's I have just completed all my testing and submitted to the insurance this past Friday, I too hope to be banded soon. I personally can deal with the Flab as long as I can get this weight off.

I'm thinking I will start looking like a sharpai (sp?) . . . but that is better than being FAT . . . I guess I would have to find out if my insurance covers PS or not . . .and then decide what to do with it when I get that far.

I have a friend who lost a lot of weight through the gastric bypass. She was able to get a Tummy Tuck paid for by insurance because of the health problems associated with rash and infections caused by the overlapping skin. She has a flatter stomach than most teen agers now!

I have lost 62 lbs - Will be 53 at the end of the month - the whole skin issue isn't about how slow or fast you lose weight but your genes and how long it was streached out.

My arms have little wings - my tummy isn't that bad but will most likely have a little ponch - my thighs look like they belong to a 80 yr old women -

Well guess what - you can cover all these areas up with clothing and get ps is you desire and can afford - I will be doing something about my face once i get to goal - but wanted to do that even before wls - my face as a couple deeper wrinkles - the ballon has been deflated..

I am happy with the energy that I have now - is it worth the baggy skin HELL YES !!!!!!!!!!

Hi. Not banded yet. In the research phase of it. I was wondering the same thing. I am pretty sure my insurance will cover the surgery but unsure of the PS after care. I have a c-section scar (old school type, runs like a zipper!) which really messed up my belly. I am worried it will be worse. I can deal with the wing spam arms (have them now) but would like to look better as well as be healthy. If my insurance will not pay the PS aftercare I am screwed since I am considered "poor" by any standard.

IndioGirl55 I hear that, I too think I will have a turkey neck since U can see in my photo I have a BIG neck and chin now. I also point out fat faces do no show winkles, yep I am sure my balloon will deflate also. Wink...LOL

Sharpei and jljeje . . . go to the "members area" on the top right . . . there is an area there to "edit picture" and "edit signature". To get the ticker, go to Tickerfactory.com and set up whatever design you like . . . but ignore the directions to copy the html link. Copy the actual picture and paste it into your signature. Hope that helps.

Chris

A friend of mine had gastric by pass, lost her wgt, and decided to go in for a Tummy Tuck (self pay) After her surgery the dr told her he had to repair a hernia he found while operating and her insurance would've covered the price of the tummy tuck.

So there's something to keep in mind! Research the hernia option first!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
