I've been jumping through hoops since May and I am ecstatic! I was at school yesterday when the surgeon's office called and gave me the great news. I started whooping and hollering and crying and "Yes! THank you Lord" -ing and my students thought I'd lost my mind!!!! LOLOLOL

I'm looking forward to getting to know you girls. We have an exciting journey ahead of us!!

I've been jumping through hoops since May and I am ecstatic!

Congratulations!

I have a somewhat unrelated question to ask however, brought on by the statement above. Am I on some sort of fast-track with my LapBand, or is six-plus months an unusually long time to go through the process?

Reason I ask is that from beginning (first meeting with doctor) to end (surgery) my entire process will be under three months - and that long only because I've drawn it out a little. In reality I could've had my operation perhaps as early as Christmas-time had I not had outside factors intervene.

I'm not necessarily wondering why it would take so long to get all the I's dotted and T's crossed, but merely if it's the norm.

Gibson - CONGRATULATIONS!!! YEA!!! YEA!!! It feel great to get approved - I remember that!

Mac the Knife - It took me only 4 months from my initial appointment to surgery, and I could have done it in 3 if my own schedule hadn't gotten in the way. For me, insurance usually requires 6 months of physician supervised diets (monthly visits, 30 days apart), but since I had done Jenny Craig last year for 7 months, they were willing to count it. Otherwise, I too, would have had to wait for 6 months.

Mac, from what I've read on the boards the process varies wildly from person to person. Some people are STILL jumping through hoops two years later and then there are situations like a friend I work with (whose husband has MUCH better insurance than I do!) that was immediately approved.

My insurance required six months of supervised visits to doctors and dieticians. Nov, Dec, and Jan have basically been wasted by inefficient/incompetent people who can't remember to fax things! =P

(Oh, and I'm not talking about MYSELF this time!) =P

If I had to guess an average time though, I'd say you would be considered a "fast track" guy. Yay for you!

Congratulations!!

My initial visit was on December 12th. That day also included the pscyh eval and the nutritional consult. My surgery is tentatively planned for February 8th as long as we actually get the letter from the insurance that they have supposedly sent saying I'm approved. I have BCBS Federal Employee Program which so far is turning out to be great.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
