  1. Hello, I was banded last Feb. and unfortunately didn't allow myself time to lose that much weight before I got pregnant and had my precious little girl. I am sooo wanting to get back on the "bandwagon" and I started out today with my 2nd fill total (I never had my .5 taken out during pregnancy) today to help me jump start. I got to thinking about it and I had no clue how much I had total or what type of band I had. So I decided to call and ask. Well, thanks to the O so wonderful nurses the only answer I got that I had a "APS band," and I asked if they knew how many CC's that it held and she said No. So they weren't very helpful, so I decided to turn to all of you pro's and see if any of y'all could help me out and give me any information about my APS band....
  2. Hi hun....well all I can tell you is from my own personal experience, so of course it will be totally different than your own. I had the band put in Feb. 12 '08 and I got pregnant July 4th. My daughter was born April 6th and is now 7 weeks old. Like you, we weren't preventing but we weren't really trying either. I never had my fill taken out but unfortunately I was able to eat pretty much like normal (normal as in not having the band...not normal as in what we should be eating) but just in smaller portions. I ended up gaining about 45 lbs total but 30 lbs of that was pure Fluid towards the end of my pregnancy (which I lost within 2 weeks of having her). So really, I guess you could say that I only gained 15lbs of fat (which is pretty good overall--or so I keep telling myself:tt2:). Looking back though, I wish I had been more careful about the chances of getting pregnant b/c being overweight and pregnant just ain't all that fun..LOL Seriously though, my band was never an issue during pregnancy. I think it actually helped me from not gaining more "weight" (not fluid) than I did. But you might be completely different and have to have your fill taken out. It really all depends on how your body will do with pregnancy. I'm not SOOOOO ready to get back on track and FINALLY LOSE ALL THIS NASTY WEIGHT ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!! I swore that I will NOT be overweight with my next pregnancy b/c I would like to actually have a baby belly!! LOL Good Luck to you and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask me.
  3. Oh no, Y'all aren't being pushy. That's why I came back here b/c I need a good swift kick in the pants!!! By all means..... Yes, I'm the one who's Doc screwed up the 1st surgery. You are looking great BTW!!! I'm pretty much stuck with this one until my free fills are over, then I will look for another one. If I am pregnant, then we will be happy (especially DH) b/c this will be our first but I do want to at least get into a walking routine b/c I don't want to gain back what little bit I have lost. (Possbily being pregnant is another reason why I'm kinda hesitant about going to see my surgeon, at least until I know for sure if I am or not). If I am, once the baby is here, then I'll pick up where I left off but I'm just ashamed that I wanted something SOOOO Badly and I've just let that go, just like I always do. It's really frustrating and I know I have nobody to blame but myself! That's the real kicker....
  4. Hello, Okay, it's been quite awhile since I was last here so I'll give y'all the background info. I had the surgery Feb. 12th, 2008 and I haven't lost ANYTHING! I was soooo excited about having this surgery, I mean I was EXTREMELY HAPPY to have something help me with my weight. SOOOOOO why have I not used it properly like I should? I have only had 2 fills but I can still eat whatever I want to (except sometimes I get that sliming thing, so I'm wondering if I should even get another fill). My biggest problem is that I don't exercise. That has ALWAYS been my biggest issue and I still can't get motivated to do it now. I'm so frustrated with myself I could scream. What happened to my eagerness? What happened to my "I CAN DO" attitude?? I really just want to cry. I'm suppose to go see my surgeon this Thursday and I am utterly embarrassed b/c I STILL haven't lost anything. I really don't want to go. She doesn't have any bedside manners and is down right rude and intimidating but I'm stuck with her for at least 3 more months b/c I get my fills free through her. I really don't want to go (and I'm wondering if I should go since I'm still sliming on stuff). I don't eat alot but I also eat whatever and don't exercise. To top things off, I think I might be pregnant. Oh man, there are going to be sooo many people pissed off if I am. I won't find out for sure until the end of this week. I'm so lost.........
  5. This is MY dream outfit, along with my DREAM BODY!!! I'd love to be able to wear something like this, but I also know that I'm delusional if I think I could ever wear it!
  6. I've been a smoker for about 7 years now and my surgeon told me to quit before the surgery. I didn't fully quit but I cut back enough to make a pack last a week. I started back up after the surgery and nobody has said anything about it. My surgeon hasn't even asked me about when I go for my fills or when I went for my post-op visit. I really do want to quit though since I won't be able to turn to food for comfort, now is the perfect time for me to quit. I just gotta do it!!!
  7. WOW!! Thanks everyone for your posts! To answer a couple of questions, yes I am on solids now, have been for 7 weeks now but my nutritionist wants me to just eat proteins and nothing else soo....maybe that's what it is. :confused2:
  8. Well now right after I had the band, yes, I was constipated but now....not so much. Yes it is loose, not runny but loose. I'm so sorry to be so gross!:huh2:
  9. I hate to ask this really gross question but I've noticed that since I've had the band, I've been pooping alot more (as in a couple of times a day). Is this normal, has anybody else noticed this? I do know that some people will burp more (which I also do as well) but pooping, I'm not so sure about. Anybody got some advice?? LOL :confused2::confused2::confused2::confused2:
  10. Okay, so mine isn't really a NSV but it made me feel soooooo goooooood that I had to post. :lol:So yesterday I went and got my first fill and I'm all excited about starting to lose weight, that I'm just giddy. Well, as I'm on my way back to work, I happen to come up on a car wreck. It had already happened and the police and fire truck were clearing the roads. So how about the 2 cuties in the "backseat" of the firetruck were totally checking me out and waving and smiling!!!!!! :drool:HMMMM....FIREMAN:drool::tt2: That just completely made my day and I was giddy the whole day!!! :sneaky::thumbup: I had totally forgotten what it was like to be checked out in a good positive way!! It kinda gave me back my spunk I had been missing!!!! LOL
  11. I want you to know that that is FUNNIEST THING I have heard in long time and needed a good laugh! Of course, it could be so funny to me b/c I have the exact same problem but mine looks more like the entire South American continent!!!!:tt2::tt2: ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!
  12. Ladies, Y'all can add one more to your bandwagon! I had my surgery on Feb. 12th and I have not lost any weight since then! But I must confess that like some of you, I to have been able to eat anything that I wanted (and not always do I make the best food choices). I'm not suppose to have anything but Protein but I've found myself eating Pasta and bread and such....:thumbs_down: I get soooo aggrevated with myself but I guess I tried to smooth things over in my mind by saying "you aren't suppose to lose weight now, you have to get your fill first." I go tomorrow to get it and MAN I CAN'T WAIT!!!! I can't eat near as much as I used to before the band but I've noticed that I get hungry really quickly after I've just eaten. What I mean is, I'll eat lunch but within 2 hours, my stomach is growling again. It didn't do that before the band, does anyone else have this issue or am I the lucky one??????:tt2:
  13. I am having a hard time getting my protein in at all and I would love to try these Nectar drinks but I really don't want to buy a whole container and end up not liking it. I read that some of you have gotten a sample pack but I can't find anywhere on the internet that sales sample packets. If y'all know of any place, please let me know....Thanks:thumbup:
  14. Hey Y'all! I'm from Greensboro, NC. I had my surgery on Feb. 12th. I go for my first fill next week and I can't wait! I was surprised at how quickly my stomach swelling went down and I was able to eat just about anything without too much trouble (although I can't eat as much as I normally would). But I'm ready for my first fill so that I can start losing weight. Unfortunately, I'm one of the ones that hasn't lost any weight since the surgery:cursing::biggrin: Welcome to LAPBAND.COM!!!! We do have a NC forum if y'all want to join us there....
  15. I completely feel your pain!!! It's been 5 weeks since my surgery and I haven't lost a single pound!! I won't be able to get my first fill until next week, even though I called them and asked if I could get it earlier since I could tell a HUGE DIFFERENCE in the amount that I can eat now. Granted, it's not near as much as it was before I had the surgery, but it has changed alot since my swelling has gone down. At least I can say that I haven't gained any weight (to my knowledge anyway)! I'm thinking this is that bandster hell that I've read about, although I'm not positive!:cursing::teeth_smile:
  16. Well Dang...I guess I'm gonna be the first one from Greensboro on here. My name is Alisa and I'm 26 years old. I'll be married to my wonderful husband, Trevor, for 1 year in May. I got banded on Feb. 12th and I am soooooooooo ready for my first fill. I just got done eating a whole chicken biscuit!! I haven't done that since before the surgery....but I have to say it was delicious:blushing::teeth_smile::drool:
  17. Banded: Feb. 12th First Fill date: March 25th I don't know about y'all, but I wish I could it before then. I swear I can eat more every day....
  18. LOL...Totally understandable!! Thanks for sharing!
  19. Amy, You are looking amazing!! Such an inspiration. I was wondering though if you had your pictures from make me heal. com locked up because I tried to find you and I wasn't able to do so.....
  20. Alicia, As I was reading your post, it was like you were typing my exact thoughts. Odd too b/c I'm also 26 and my name is Alisa...LOL It's nice to know that there are other ladies out there that feel exactly as I do about the TT option. I, however, will not be getting my TT until after I have my 2 kids. I just don't want to take that risk of messing it up after spending all that money, and the way my luck is, that is exactly what would happen! LOL
  21. I can totally feel my band and my port. Especially when I bend over in a certain position. It kinda hurts from the pressure. I can also feel it when I'm full. I was poking around last night and I think I felt my port but I really couldn't tell if it was that or my ribs. Weird huh...I'm hoping that eventually it will go away so that when I bend over I won't feel the pain.
  22. I was banded Feb. 12th and total I've lost about 16 pounds since before surgery. I won't get a fill until the end of March, so I'm eating more. Well, I'm eating alot smaller amounts than before but I've noticed I can eat more times in the day than before. It's quite frustrating!
  23.:thumbup::thumbup:Awww!! Thanks y'all for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. I am doing much better today. I just had the best shower of my life and I took off the bandages. From what I can tell, my incisions look pretty good. As far as a discount, nope, 'fraid not but she was more in tune to kissing my butt....LOL I have a question for all those who have been recently banded...I dont' know about y'all but I am freaking STARVIN!!!!!!!!! Liquids just aren't doing it for me, how are y'all copin?????:confused2::confused2:
  24. Hey everyone! Thanks for keeping up with me. So, I ended up having the surgery by the same surgeon this past Tuesday. Everything went completely smooth. I decided to keep with her b/c I knew that she would not be making any more mistakes in fear of getting a law suit. We discussed everything before the surgery and I felt pretty confident in her ability to continue. As of right now, I'm hurting like hell from the surgery but as far as my diaphragm, it is doing A-OKAY. Thanks for all your concerns and for keeping me in your thoughts and Prayers.
  25. Thanks y'all for your responses. I honestly don't have any hard feelings toward her but I am a little apprehensive about her doing the surgery again. I called this morning and I have a meeting with her this afternoon to discuss everything and get it on the table.
