I need info on Dr. K!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Well, I did it! I started on this site yesterday and today I scheduled my surgery with Dr. K. I'm saving $10,000:thumbup: Yeah!!!!! The hospital here at home was charging me $20,000 for self-pay. I am soo nervous about flying to Denver for my surgery. Can anyone give me some advice about this Doctor and having surgery away from home? What about follow-up visits? Do you get fills at home? I hope I made the right decision. How long did you stay in Denver?

My surgery is Feb. 13 which is the day my (late) husband and I had our first date. It would have been 21 years. I can't believe we would have been married 20 years in May. Since I am new, here's my scoop. My husband died of pancreatic cancer on June 1, 2005. He was only 46. I have three children at home: 17, 14 and 3. My mom just died in July and I have had a hard time lately. My mom's death brought up painful memories of my husbands death. I don't have a lot of people to talk to about this and that's why I am glad for this site. My kids are afraid of losing another parent so that is why I am ready for a change PLUS at 45 years old, I need to be healthier for my little one. Sorry so long!

I just want you to know that you are in great hands with Dr. Kirshenbaum. He takes great care of his patients.

You can't go wrong with Dr.K. His staff is very attentive, and he is a great surgeon. I just went for my first fill, and my fill surgeon was impressed with his work and my incisions. I am an ICU nurse, and therefore picky about doctors, and I could have been banded at my own hospital, however, the program here is new (among other problems I had). I made the decision to go with Dr.K based on the number of bands he has done and the comments I read on here. I have never felt for one minute I made the wrong decision to have him do my surgery. The surgery center I had my surgery at was beautiful, modern, and also had very attentive staff.

Dr. K. is the greatest. The man has changed my life forever and he did it for $9950.00. The surgery went great and I went for a 4hr walk the night after (just hrs after). I went back to work 4 days later (programming and test frie alarms. You have chossen the very best as far as I am concerned.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
