What did u do to pass the time waiting for your date?

Recommended Posts

I cant stand the wait!! I dont even start my preop diet for another 12 days. I may start it sooner just to be sure my liver is perfect. Ins is approved as soon as I get 5yrs of weights to them which I will get tomorrow from my endocrinologist. Anyone else start the diet earlier than you were supposed to? What can I do to speed up the time? I feel like I have read and researched everything there is and when I try to look for more info, its all so repetitive. The days are dragging by so incredibly SLOOOWWWWW!!!!!!!!! AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!

What an exciting time! I used Lapbantalk.com for my support. Go to the newbie thread and post a newbie post to let people know you are new and your banding date. You should get some good responses. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the reply. I have been here almost a month so I'm not really a newbie anymore. But it's nice to meet you :tt1: I love this forum, I spend hours a day reading here.

I was just banded last week and I had my surgery date since the end of July. I wait 5 MONTHS! Talk about the days dragging! I found LBT about a week after getting my date and I just read and read and read as much as I could! I thought January would NEVER come and now I'm 1 week post-op!!

I see you've lost weight pre-op, which is great! That's basically what I did to pass the time. I did low carb starting the week after getting my surgery date up until the day of surgery and I lost 55lbs. My surgery date was a motivator to get as much weight off as possible before surgery so I would have less to lose with the band. That's not really you're situation now since you're just a few weeks away.

Besides that, I'm a full time college student so I was busy with school, so I didn't have all day to think about it, which was a good thing.

It can't hurt to start the diet early unless you feel like you might get burned out when you really need to be doing the diet properly and you'll give in and eat stuff you're not supposed to, which would not be a good thing.

Good luck with everything! It will come soon!

I was to be on the pre-op diet for seventeen days but I was lucky enough--my surgery was rescheduled and I was only on it nine days!

Here's what I would say to you: Try to get a Protein shake in each day (hopefully powder, low carb) which will curb your appetite. Also, if you've begun working out, work out more! After working out, you really don't have much hunger. If you haven't started working out, now is your best time to start!!

And at the end of the day--go to bed early--you won't be thinking about and tempted by food!!

It is just terrific that you want to begin your new life as soon as possible!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
