Need help finding Phoenix Dr.

Recommended Posts

Hoping someone can help me out in finding a Dr. in the Phoenix area that will see a patient that was banded in Mexico.

I have had some major complications after being banded and now need someone in the area that can treat me. Any help with Dr. recommendations would be fantastic:)

laurieu,

I'm so sorry to hear you are having complications. If there is anything I can do, please let me know.

My docs were great. I would recommend them highly. I went to WLIAZ in Tempe.

Here is a link to the website: Weight loss institute of Arizona The phone number is 480-829-6100.

Good luck. I hope you can find someone locally to help.

Thank you for your response. I was banded back in November and 2 wks later I was on a business trip in MT got sick went to the emergency room and from there was airflighted to a larger hospital where they took out the port and all the tissue that was effected from the staph infection I had. I have now had an open wound since then and have been being treated by a wound care clinic. I know that I need to see a Bariatric surgeon to decide what I am going to do with the tubing that is still inside me as well as the band but am really uncomfortable in going back to the Dr. in Mexico. I will give these guys a call and hopefully they will see a patient that was banded in Mexico

For fills of a non-local band Fill Centers USA or WLIAZ will do it. For work on band complications in Arizona, WLIAZ is the only place that will do it that I know of. They see Mexican banded patients that are having complications on a weekly basis. You’ll have to join their support program and have an initial evaluation. I hope that helps. If there is anything else I can do please let me know.

Good Morning,

I actually was able to find Dr. Orris that is willing to see me. I have an appt today. I am hoping that he is going to help me out and let me know where I have to go from here regarding a new port or if that is even an option right now. Keep your fingers crossed:)

Thanks for the good thoughts. Dr. Orris is awesome and I am so lucky that I found him. He has ordered a scope for tomorrow and then we will be able to see where we will go from there.

I have been lucky so far that even tho I had the surgery by Dr. Aceves in Mexico that my insurance has been covering all the complications so far. I am keeping my fingers crossed they will continue to pay for all the problems I am having.

I had a wound vac on the open wound from the 17th of Dec. until last Friday and found out today that my insurance had a cap of 700 dollars on durable medical equipment and the vac is 100.00 a day so I am going to have a huge out of pocket expense for that but I have to say that I don't think I would be doing remotely as well without the vac so worth every penny I will have to scrap together for it.

If the band is ok we are still going to have to see if we can just put a new port in or if I will have to have a new band as well, but as the good Dr. said today lets take it one step at a time and he said that so far everything I have done since I found out I had the staph infection and the care and the treatment I have recieved has been exactly what he would of done so that was very good news:)

So again thank you for your well wishes and thoughts:)

Laurie

Sorry for the delay in responding.......The band is good no slippage no erroision..........so right now life is good. Dr. Orris is working with the maker of the band to see how we would move forward with the port. We wont do anything about putting a port back in for at least 6 months. My body needs time to heal and rest after the last couple of months.

I did get the go ahead to return to work finally .......wow have been off since Dec. 3rd, can not wait to get back. So my first business trip is Monday to Colorado for a few days....and the best part even with all this I have managed to lose 25lbs.

Thank you so much for your support hope everyone is having a great Saturday!

L.

What insurance did you have? I need to see Dr. Orris and I have BCBS of AZ.

Dr DeBarros takes BCBS. Both doctors Dr Orris and Dr DeBarros will still work on your case. If there is any way you can contact me, I would be happy to speak with you about our program.

How are you doing with everything? I hope that you are doing great.

I called this morning and the lady who answered said that Dr. Debarris took BCBS of AZ and that they would call me next week since he is on vacation this week. I'm not sure how this is going to work since I was banded in Mexico. I can't afford a lot of out-of-pocket expenses.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
