Any Nymphs Feeling Restriction!

Recommended Posts

Steph!

YOU ROCK! Ahhh! Restriction..how I miss it.

Cindy

You'll get back to it soon enough. At least now I know what everybody was talking about! I was starting to lose hope that I'd ever get this feeling!

Hi Everyone--I haven't posted for quite a while, but I thought this topic was interesting. I went for my 2nd fill this past Monday, and I now have a total of 3.9 cc's in my 10cc band, and I feel restriction too. It seems like several people have said they are feeling it at around the 4cc point. I've been back on solid foods for about 3 days now, and I seriously am getting full after just a few bites, and I find myself having to slow down much more than before. I am PRAYING that this continues. I dropped about 7 lbs this week--of course it was that time of the month, so that counts for a good part of it. But I am so happy--I have never been so motivated to lose weight and keep it off. I am actually hopeful for the first time in years that I'm actually going to be able to do this!! Everyone here seems to be doing so well!! This is a great board!!

WB BankChick. That's great to hear you are feeling it, too. I wish I had felt it at around 4. But it took me until 6.5 to feel it. WTG on the loss! You are burning it up! Keep up the good work! :)

Yes, while my appetite has certainly been smaller since surgery, I didn't get true restriction until my last fill that took me to 6ccs. At 4ccs, it still didn't feel like I had a band.

I think I am finally beginning to feel a little restriction. :) Today for lunch, I ate 2 slices of turkey breast deli meat some apple sauce and string cheese. I was perfectly satisfied.

For dinner I had about 1/2 a bowl of chicken Soup and a good handful of granola with almond milk. YUM! Again... perfectly satisfied! This is a good thing. I am liking this band. I just wonder how fast the weight is going to shed off now that I have some restriction??? I guess only time will tell! I just came down with the flu early this week. I think between that and my second fill i had on wednesday morning, I have probably already lost 10 pounds! I am just guessing though.

I am SO glad some of you are finally getting the restriction! Yeah!! I think I'm almost there - not quite, but should be with one or two more fills. My doc is only going to do .5 cc's each month from now on. Last fill (total of 5 cc's) I felt a change where I didn't need to eat nearly as much to get full, but I can still eat an awful lot. So I'm hoping my next one will be the ticket. I'm getting it done next Tuesday. I'll be back then to let you know!

Luv ya guys! :frown:

I am getting my 3rd fill today at 11:45. I can't wait. My last fill was 2 weeks ago bringing my total to 4 cc's in a 10cc band. I had restriction for about a week and then I was hungry again. I really have to chew well or I get that wonderful shoulder pain but I can eat more than I should. Hopefully this fill will help.

Good Luck Skinny Jill!

I just got back from my fill appt and I now have 5cc's in 10cc band. Two days of full liquids now for me and two days of soft food, so we''ll wait and see. I already made my next appt for two weeks, if I don't need it I can cancel, but I doubt I'll have to.

I have a love/hate relationship with fills and restriction. I want to feel full but don't want to be so tight that food comes back up. I guess I want it perfect! I would like to eat a normal portion, be full for several hours, eat normal again etc. It's the feeling full in between the meals that's missing right now.

Every fill I've been hopeful that it will give me some restriction for a little while and then nothing. I know eventually it will happen!

Let us know how you make out today!

Hi Shortgal,

I now have 4.5cc's in a 10cc band. She tried to put in 1 cc and Water wouldn't go down so she backed off to .5 cc's and the Water went down. I hope that means I will have good restriction. I actually feel different than I did after the last fill. It could all be in my mind. I hope not.

I really hope this fill gives you good restriction. We deserve it. We have been patient little bandsters.

Jill

Update: I am drinking broth and it is going down slow. It is going down but it is gurgling big time. I think I actually have restriction.

You also have some swelling from the fill. You may not get the gurgling in a few days. What fill # is this for you? I have had 2. .5cc prime/2cc fill/2cc fill. I have decent restriction, but am looking forward to the sweet spot. I hope we hit it here on fill 3 because after that, I start paying for fills out of pocket!

Skinny Jill, The gurgling is a good sign, but it's possible it won't last.

I had an Atkins Protein shake when I got home and it went down fine. UGH! I have heard some on the forum say, their restriction can kick in later, so we'll see. I don't think this one did it for me.

They have been giving me 1 cc at each fill after the first fill, which was 2cc's. I don't know why but I think I'm going to have to be at 6 cc at least before I get restriction, but I'll know in a few day after the liquids.< /p>

But the office is willing to give the fills every two weeks, so at least I don't have to wait too long between fills and I am losing weight, slowly, but losing.

TxArcher: How long did the feeling of being satisfied last after your turkey, apple sauce and cheese?

I'm eating reasonable amounts, but I would love to have the feeling of being satisifed longer between meals.

Don't feel too bad about paying for fills, if you have to, it'll be worth it and I had to pay for the whole surgery. How much are the fills where you live?

The feeling of satisfied is lasting about 2-3 hours. I guess that is good. Today for lunch I had 1 can of Vienna sausages and 1/3 can of light peaches. I am still "full" at 2:30! I have recently broken the habit of drinking with my meals. That makes a HUGE difference.

My surgeon charges $100/fill. It may be $150. That is not too bad i guess. I will just have to save up for my fills.

Two to three hours of being satisifed between meals is fabulous. that sounds like a sweet spot to me.

You should lose quickly with that restriction, of course then you'll need another fill! That's not a bad price for fills, I've seen people on the forum looking for fill Dr.s and have found some to be asking $500!

Can you have a big tag sale with stuff you want to get rid of? Or sell things you no longer need on e-bay to raise a few bucks?

You can always use the money you save from eating less!!!!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
