The itching of the healing up incisions is going to drive me out of my freaking mind! Is there soemthing I can do? Or do I need to just suck it up?

I'm 2 days post-op and I'm already itching too! I don't know what to do for it, but I noticed that placing a damp, cold cloth over the incisions helps to calm the itch.

I took Benedryl like it was suggested on one of my other posts, and it worked. I got the Benedryl strips for Children in vanilla Mint. Now the areas around the incisions are still red/pink but thankfully no more itching.

As long as they are fully healed shut, there is benadryl cream available. I found simple cocoa butter with Vitamin E worked best for me, though. But if you purchase CCB, make sure it is either the number one or number two ingredient in the ingredient list.

My doctors office told me to not put anything on them if the area is inflamed, even if the stitched areas are fine. In fact they said "no topical creams", so that is why I went for the Benedryl.

I get terrible raised scars called keloids and was told by a doc to buy Vitamin e gel caps and cut them open. I just cut the end off and rub the vitamin e right on the incision. It moisturizes it and keeps it from itching! I know about the itching, though, because I forgot to tell them I am allergic to the adhesive on band aids and sure enough I have these awful itchy Patches in the shapes of band aids where each of my incisions is. The benedryl helps a little, but I will be glad when they are gone!

Oy yeah that sucked. Wasn't so bad with my band, but about 6 mos ago I had my gallbladder out and those incisions were the worst.

I used Benadryll cream on the really bad days, and calamine lotion on the rest of the days, or at night when the itching woke me up. The calamine seemed to work faster - almost immediate relief, the cream lasted much longer but seemed to take longer to work.

Once I figured I'd be real smart and use my Solarcaine for topical anesthetic - surely that would relieve the itching. Umm, don't do that.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
