Speaking of fills... I have been debating on whether or not to go get a fill. I feel like I am eating too much at any given meal. Now don't get me wrong I'm not sitting there eating 2 plates of food or anything like I used to pre-lapband. However, I can eat probably around 3 cups of food at one sitting and I get hungry again about 1.5 hours later. To the point where my stomach starts growling at me. I try to hold off as long as I can to eat again. But I know that only 4 months ago even .5 of cc's was too much and they had to take it right back out. The doc said at that time I was probably at my max fill. Is it possible that I might be in need of a slight more bit of a fill only 4 months later even if I haven't lost any weight in the last 4 months? Any thoughts???

I havent been on in a long time...because I havent been the best bandster in my eyes...but I keep reminding myself I am not gaining and that is a victory to me.

BUT I was eatting more then I should be able to and I went in for my fill apt and he couldnt put ANY in without me choking on the Water so he had to take the fill back out...we figured out that morning fills are not good for me. I have to have a fill in the afternoon. It is the only way for me to get a fill. So now I just need to learn to eat correctly again.:P

I keep forgetting that I dont need the food I want. Because if I try it is just a waste of food. and I end up stuck...

Hi, all, I am struggling with eating things I shouldn't right now and my weight is going up and down 1 to 3 lbs. I know I need to be strong, but there are so many things that tempt me right now. Stress is high as I have my daughter back home going to beauty school. We took out a loan for her to go and I am worried she will not follow through. I have always been such an anxious eater! It is good to be able to write this down and talk to you all, thanks, Dot

Some of you seem to be struggling!

C'mon, gang! We've GOTTA stick with it!

We have more of a challenge than most, but we can't get discouraged, lose heart, and run out of steam!

It's a long haul, but WE CAN DO THIS!!

Small portions, healthy choices, follow the bandster rules!

Are you using small plates???

.... I use a saucer for Breakfast, luncheon plate for dinner, small glass pyrex bowl for lunch salad.

Use small utensils... I bought toddler forks/spoons in the baby department at Wal-Mart.

That will slow you down and force you to take smaller bites.

And CHEW, CHEW, CHEW!!

Eat slowly... put your fork down between bites.

NO DRINKING with meals.

PROTEIN FIRST, then veggies, avoid starches... only occasionally. I only allow myself Pasta, rice or potatoes maybe twice a week and in very small amounts. My doctor says 1/2 cup servings... okay, I probably eat a cup at lunch and dinner. I eat a lot of fish, sometimes even three times a day.

We buy artificial crab and it goes in my morning eggbeaters omelet and in my salad at lunchtime.

Meat/fish potions should be no more than 4 oz. Size of a deck of cards.

Our lives literally depend on our success!

Get back on track!

YOU ARE WORTH IT!

Thanks Phil What I really need is to have someone who is working it right to have meals with. So I can see when I am suposed to stop and how to best eat.

Hi Cerrin,

Phil has a lot of good points! Are you able to eat that much in one sitting? In the morning I am lucky if I can get 3/4 of an egg down. I eat about a half of a 6 oz yogurt and maybe a slice of cheese later on. I get full pretty fast most times. Once in a while which I don't understand I can eat a good amount(for me at least) The other night I went out to dinner and I was sitting there watching people around me eat big bites and eat bread and all kinds of stuff and I was having a "woe is me" moment. When that happens I remind myself how misrable I was, and how I could bearly walk long enough to even go shopping. The probelm for me is I forget where I was and how far I have come! You can do this one day at a time one step at a time. Do you drink enough liquids? When you feel hurgry maybe you are just thirsty. Like Phil said NEVER drink liquids during dinner and not for at least an hour after you eat, and NEVER have carbonated beverages!

Good Luck!

Yeah I need to stop the carbonated beverages again...My Dr said it was ok...so I have had them now I cant stop...I need to go cold turkey like before surgery. I am working tax season and it is so easy to have them at work. the first job it is not that big of a deal...but the second job makes me want to drink....carbonated drinks. lol

I cant really eat in the morning...but about lunch time I can eat a ton...I dont drink when I eat. I am very good at that. But I dont think I am drinking enough thru out the day...I am going to try to make sure I am getting enough Water in maybe that will help kill the caffeen addiction I am having.

Hi everyone,

Its 8 days since they repostioned my band. They had to cut through stomach muscles to get to it so I have been alot sorer than I would of liked. I am angry and frustrated as I am fighting the mental anguish of this having to be done from an assault at work. I have an infection in one of my wounds so its being a slow run but i'll get there. This has made me more determined to succeed than eva though. To lose this much weight in a lifetime seems unreal but equally attainable, you wouldnt be human to fall of track sometimes. It's about learning to believe in yourself ahhhh if only i can learn to take my own advice.

Good luck guys n gals even though I don't know any of you personally you are all a huge part of my journey to healthiness!!!!!

Ky,

I am new to this thread and to lapbandtalk.com. I will be banded on April 23rd, 09. After reading what happened to you at work, it made me stop and think about what my husband has been so worried about. I work with young children (preschool and kindergarten ages) and they sometimes get aggressive. I often come home with bruises. I don't think anything of it because I love my work. Could you tell me if what happened to you and your band was caused by mere hitting, and outside influences? Or was there a weapon involved? I plan on returning to work after only two days.

I love your quote about the butterfly!

hey 4luci

Please don't be worried. I was assaulted by a 35 year old woman who was totally psychotic. She had a massive meltdown. I was kicked in the stomach 8 times and had bruises larger than my fist, but i was so swallon it was a combination between the assault the swelling, the stress and throwing up constantly that did it. This really was a freak thing!!!!!

I love my band it is completely worth everything!! I have lost over 50kg and feel amazing.

I have a young son who has ASD ADHD and language nad uditory processing disorders. He can become very abuse but I have never been worried about the band. It is for most purposes quite secure up in there.

I have had my repositioning and I couldnt of gone back to work until now but I havent recovered that great. Some people recover amazingly well and are back to work in a few days

Good luck hun and keep us posted

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
