Just wanting to know basics, my pain is almost gone, just some minor aches. I cant seem to go to the bathroom! I have never had that problem! I am having to force myself to drink my Protein Shakes, just have no desire for food or anything. Is that normal? How long did it take for you to start seeing the weight come off?:help:

HI~~ welcome to LBT, and welcome to bandland!

If you have been using any type of pain medication, that is likely responsible for your Constipation. Once you get off of it, and begin feeling more able to drink liquids, it usually goes the other direction, and you end up with a few days of liquid in = liquid out.

I can just hear the thoughts in your head--What in the Hell have I done??!! That is normal!!! It improves quickly!

You might notice a sudden and drastic change in your weight after a few days, especially when your bowels go to working---it is the body releasing all the fluids it was given by IV, and the swelling subsiding. As it does, your desire for food, and drink should return. And before long you will be wanting food you cannot have!

It sounds like trading one evil for another for a few weeks! It IS however very worth it!

Take it easy, sip lots, and walk lots. If you find yourself easily fatigued, drink som eclear liquid Protein, such as the Protein Shots they sell or zero carb isopure--both available at GNC and places like that.

The more Water you can get in right now, the better the constipation will ease.

Set your mind to healing mode now, and the weight will take care of itself--------the important thing, way above loss in pounds right now is to allow the band to heal in the proper position--so that it is going to be able to help you lose in the long term.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask, look around the site, there is tons of great info here!!

Happy Healing!!

Kat

its normal to feel no hunger in the beginning about 3/4 way through your liquid phase you slowly start feeling hunger and by then youll be on mushies and it will ease up. and its normal to not have to go to the bathroom as much because your not getting much food in your only taking in liquids at this time so youll pee more. but youll do great!! have fun with the band!! name your friend for life. the weight will come off in no time. like the other person said dont focus on weight loss focus on the healing process. unlike me i was focused on pain and healing i was more worried about losing my weight. and i was doin so good (so i though) come to find out my evil scale was broken and giving me wrong weights :faint: so i went to drs on monday and found out my real weight and i was down 24 pounds since surgery on 12 -12 -07 i went back today just to use the scale and i was down another 8 pounds. So dont worry things will go great!!! congrats on the band.:whoo:

I appreciate you telling me all that. I am staying focused, I had surgery this past Friday and I have lost 16lbs already! I get my first fill on 2/4/08, and that seems soon to others that I have read on here! Alot do not have a fill until like 7 weeks!

You are doing great Reif, you will be looking good in no time! :clap2:

What creations did you come up with Dave? You have only been banded 4 months and you have lost 100lbs? Whoa!

About 4 and a half months. Its been somewhat of a challenge, but it can be done. A lot of walking and weight training, plus sticking to a good eating plan really helped. Log anything you eat or drink to keep track of your calories. As far as mushies, refried Beans and salsa with Fatfree cheese, microwaved is good. Blended Healthy choice clam chowder, fresh fruit smoothies with plain Protein powder, mashed cauliflower (pureed) with ff cheese was one of my favorites. Lots of cottage cheese and natural applesauce.

Well I will keep those in mind for sure! You are doing a great job and I hope to follow in your footsteps. I was banded on 1/4 and I have lost 22lbs already, I have about 65-70 more to lose! This has been a hard 7 days with only liquids, but I am not hungry anyways! Thanks so much for your advice! Good Luck in all you do!

Congrats!!!

Sounds like you are healing fast. Metamucil is something I add to my Water, just a teaspoon every other day. Rest, read here.

Try Protein in Soups like Tomato or cream of chicken. Add sugarfree ice cream to milk in the shakes. Mix carnation instant sugarfree Breakfast to protein shakes. Lite yogurt, weight watchers yogurt with peaches. I like cherries. Fat free cottage cheese with peaches or other fruit. All of these have helped me get through. My weight loss was slow at first, but I love to step on the scale and see 2-3 pounds gone. I weigh almost every day.

Good Luck to you.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
