Thanks for the reminder, I have been using the S and it does help. I am feeling so good, High Protein does that for me, so this is the perfect "diet" to follow, and it great not being hungry. I also find that I want to do things I haven't thought about in a long time, since I now have not only physical energy but mental energy too. Hope you are all doing well as am I.

:thumbup:Hi everyone. My screen name is sams46 (my initials) but I am another Sharon. There must be something with that name. I have been watching this site for weeks, but kind of slowed down when I was seeing all the problems. I am scheduled for surgury on 3/12 and decided to not read about problems because I want a positive attitude. I was really impressed with Skittles. It is really encouraging to see your success. It is nice to see people my age (61) being successful. I have high hopes. I just need to be positive and watch my Protein.< /p>

Hi sams46, Sometimes it is a bit unnerving to read about possible lap band complications but I've tried to use the information to remind myself to do EVERYTHING I can to avoid the complications (eating what I've been told to eat, chewing well, not having so many fills I'm overly restricted, etc.) Certainly, all complications cannot be avoided but perhaps we can lessen the chances of having such complications.

I had surgery 1/21/08 and am doing great. Completely healed, exercising 30 minutes a day, feeling only minimal hunger (when meal time comes around), can eat anything, such as chicken, salad, apple/skin, etc. (although I chose to eat ONLY healthy food in limited quantity). I am due for my first fill in 2 weeks but if things (hunger) continue as they are now, I may delay having the fill. As long as my hunger is under control, I'd rather not have a fill because I don't want to fool around with being overly restricted so that I am limited in the kinds of food I eat.

Good luck on your up-coming surgery. Follow the band rules and you'll have a good chance of having a very successful band experience.

Hi Sams46 aka Sharon, I guess that was a popular name back in the day. There were 4 in my nursing class of 21. Welcome to this site. Keep us updated on your progress.

Thanks for the encouragement. I know what I need to do but I need to get in the habit. Like make sure I have the right food available when I need it. I am working on starting to avoid drinks before or during meals and eating more Protein. I was at a required meeting last week at the hospital. There were about 50 bipass people and about 8 lapsters. It is nice to find others my age. The majority of people present were in their 40s.

Hi Skittles.

Got banded on your birthday and, except for a few minor aches and pains, all is going well today, two days after surgery. I do feel a little more hungry than I did on post-op diet (I lost 12 lbs.), but I attribute that to just hanging around my apartment looking for something to do. So, I decided to reply to you.

Hope your birthday was enjoyable!

Hi there, I don't get to check in as often as I would like, but for the first time in years I'm out living life. I'm busy with shopping with my daughters, and going to the YMCA. I think I've become addicted to exercise  I'm glad the newbies are doing well and your surgeries were successful. My birthday was wonderful and my kids threw me a b'day party which was ever so special, and so very different from other years. My daughter gave me a beautiful top and told me she had told the clerk "I can't believe I'm trying on clothes for my mom"...wonderful feeling that size 12 I can tell you. I'll check in every chance I get, but you will all find that as you lose and get more energy you are going to be more scarce as you begin living your new lives.

All my best to all of you.

Skittles

I went to my Seminar last week, Feb. 6. The difficult time for me is now. Waiting to hear from the doctor's office to call and schedule an appointment for the consultation. Did anyone find that difficult for them?

According to the information in my packet, the phone call should come any day soon. They tell you one week. I don't want to leave the house just in case that call comes in. I seem to have a lot of thoughts going through my head. The antisapation is killing me.

Karen, how did your surgery go? Believe me, it was the right thing to do! I am also diabetic, but my diabetes doc reduced my Humalog twice and then took me off it (and Byetta)! Yay--no more stabbing myself in the belly before every meal! I still take one shot of Lantus each night, but instead of 80 units, it's 22. I am amazed and delighted. I hope equal or better success for you!

I have not seen a real difference in my diabetic medicine but to date I have not really lost much. Immediately after surgery I had a very stable sugar at 115 or so and as I started to eat more ( types ) of food I saw it go up slightly, but maintain my pills the same. I go for my first fill on Thursday 3/6 and am excited, although I have had only one episode of "hunger" to date since 1/31.

Did receive notice that my doctor and the center I go to will not take Medicare Patients unless on a cash basis after 4/1/08. So now I will have to decide what to do about the remainder of fills.

All in all I am recovering nicely from my lapband, pacemaker revision and too long on taking it easy.

Thanks for you caring and take care of yourself!

Hi I'm fuzzy wuzzy and I'm having lapband surgery on Monday the 24th of March. I'm 72 and in good health except for sleep apnea and high blood pressure. I've been overweight since the births of my children and have never really lost the extra pounds put on since. Have tried ww and different diets but could never stay on them for any long periods of time. I'm looking for someone to talk with during this time.

I am 65 going on 44, at least I feel that way now. I was banded on 1/31/08, while I handled the surgery pretty well I did have a slow loss for the first 5 weeks only 10 lbs, but now that I am exercising 3 times a week I feel both physically and mentally better.

My first fill is scheduled for 3/31, I have really not been hungry since banding. stay on Proteins as much as possible, over 60 grams per day.:)

I am more then willing to be there for you to talk to, you can either do on this web site or by private message and we can exchange emails.

You will do great and be so glad you did it.

I live in AZ so the weather is on my side but no matter where you live just remember this is for "YOU".

I started gaining weight at menopause in my early 40's and over the next 25 years just never could take it off and keep it off. I have decided that what ever time I have left I want it to quality time for me and my husband.

I feel so fortunate to have the support of all on this web site that I know that it has made it easier for me to keep going in a positive direction.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers especially next week.

Karen, This is bugging me....what is the S you said you are doing? I looked back a ways and still can't figure it out . Not that it matters, but it's bugging me that I can't figure it out.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
