Anybody know about The Oregon Bariatric Center in Eugene, OR? They seem like they know what they are doing, but I would love to hear from anyone who has had experience with them.

Thanks so much.

Hi Natasha,

I am having lap band surgery on March 26. I am going thru Oregon Bariatric in Eugene. So far I am very impressed with the professionalism and kindness of everyone working there. I originally was to have Dr Umbach but I understand he left for another state so Dr Yarborough will be doing my surgery. I have my pre-op appt on Thursday morning.

Kathy

I researched a few places in Oregon and then decided to go with Dr. Umbach at the Bariatric center in Eugene. After beginning my journey at this center Dr. Umbach left the practice or will before my surgery  Today is my final 6 month required appt from insurance so I hope to have my surgery scheduled for May!

:wink_smile::)

Good Luck Brandy, I also was to have Dr Umbach and actually had Dr Yarbrough perform my surgery last week. I was very pleased with him as well. He is very personable and I think you'll like him also. Good luck on your journey. I am doing well. Had quite a bit of gas pain in my neck and shoulders and it is tapering off now. Can't wait to get to Stage 3 of the diet. Kathy

That is awesome! Oh I have a question if you dont mind

I submit to insurance today and have a 10 day wait for an answer. But how far is he normally booked up? I mean I wonder when my pre op appt wtih surgeon will be and how far out they are already scheduled for surgeries.

If you have the same experience I just had, things will move FAST after insurance approval. I got a call the day after it was approved and had my pre-op appt scheduled the following week.

I just got released from the hospital (had surgery with Dr Yarborogh earlier today). I feel great! Dr Yarborough is fantastic. Everyone at the hospital, the nurses, CNA's, and the anesthesiologist....they were all great! :huh2:

They moved fast alright sheesh. I got the call on Monday and was given a date of 4/23 with pre op on 4/17.

Could someone tell me what all I will have to do on 4/17 in their office?

Hi Brandy,

I only know what I experienced at my pre-op appt and what took place was preadmission in the hospital, and EKG and lots of informative paperwork was given to me. I also met with the surgeon again and was weighed to make sure I had lost the required amount of weight before surgery. Then I also met the Anestheisiologist. All in all I felt it prepared me for the actual day of surgery. I had many questions and they were all answered at that point. I hope this helps to give you an idea of what will take place........Kathy

I had my bloodwork a week or so before the pre-op so he would have the results in hand by the time the pre-op happened.

I have posted information several times on this site and no one has responded even once. What do I have to do to be acknowledged here? Is this a closed clique or what? sufina

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
