Going for 1st fill a little nervous

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone I'm getting my 1st fill on Thursday the 17th. I'm a little nervous I'm not sure what to expect I've had my surgery on 1/4/05 I had good restriction for 2 weeks then I guess the swelling went down, I haven't have much restriction for the passed month. I was wondering if after the fill what I'll feel as far as restriction goes will I feel the same restriction as I did after surgery? Is that the goal for feeling? I wasn't hungery. Now my god my stomach is growling and twisting as if I haven't eaten all day and it's only about 3 hours or so I'm starving at that point. Next question how do you know when your full before you get that unconfortable feeling or pain? What are some of the signs? I've pbed Quite a few times in this past month It's hard to slow down and chew so much without the food sipping down. Help I don't want to keep pbing after my fil. Thanks everyone for all your help in advance. Monica

Monica, please be careful! If you are pbing now w/o a fill, it's just bond to get worse after a fill. Are you mostly eating meats and veggies, cutting everything into tiny pieces and chewing very, very well before swallowing? Take your time, don't eat too fast, and chew food to pieces before swallowing. Best of luck to you!

Monica, are you still pbing? If so, Marie is right and you don't need a fill. If you haven't pbed in a while it should be ok. The most important this is for you to discuss it with your dr.

I think everybody has a different experience with fills. Some only need a little to feel restriction, some need several fills to feel it (like me!). I have been struggling with what full feels like. The truth is, I'm still not sure. There are lots of stop eating signals and again everyone is different, but some are a hiccup, runny nose, a burp, slight pain, ..... some don't get signals at all!

Good luck with your fill!

I had my first fill today and it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. It didn't hurt at all. When they were doing the swallow test and trying out different amounts, I could feel which one was going ok and which was a little to tight. The feeling was more like having an air bubble and I could feel it when it worked it's way through.

Good luck to you tomorrow. Make sure you tell you doctor everything about what you've been experiencing up until now.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
