Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here

Boy it really is quite here.

We just got home from going to a B-day party at the Amerstar Casino. Hubby and BIL and I shared a plate of nachos and they shared a tower of beer. I was going to get one of those Mojito's but decided if I was going to drive home I better not. We only stayed for about 2 hours anyway. Didn't even gamble any.

Tomorrow is football day so I'm sure it's a rest day for me. Get the laundry done day.

Hope all is well with Terry.

Good Morning, Violets..

We got back home last night and I was too pooped after reading all the posts to do anything except update the countdown.

The weekend went very well. All the churches in our area send delegates to this meeting and we have our business meeting and a program. Bob and his co-pastor planned the program.. Reuniting the Children of Abraham. A Christian woman, a Muslim woman and a Jewish woman talked about how all our faiths are descended from Abraham and what it is like to live their faith in the world today. It was very interesting and informative. I sang a couple of solos for the worship times and when everything was done and we were ready to go home, Bob and I heaved a sigh of relief that everything went well. We stopped at the Casino on the way home to do our traditional $20 a piece gambling. We walked out with $80 thanks to Bob's hitting the quarter slots. So doubling our money and walking away was just fine with us! We stopped at a fruit and veggie stand on the way home and got some honey crisp apples.. yummy.

We were pretty good with eating during the weekend, except for debate night where we grazed on unhealthy stuff for a couple of hours. Today we're back on the 6 small meals.

Terry, hope all went well with the memorial service yesterday.

PamELa.. sorry to hear about your dad. My prayers are with you.

Laura... CONGRATS to you on your degree!!!! Your baby has one smart, slim momma!!

TracyK.. hope you're feeling better today.. good for you on the walking exercise each school day!

2 weeks from today we'll be on a cruise ship again.. wooo hooooo! Can't wait for some warm Water to swim in!!!

Gotta run and get ready for church. Everyone have a great day and I'll check back in later today.

Good morning violets-

Terry-woke up thinking of you this morning. How are you? How was the service?

Glad to see Judy posting today  Welcome back.

Here is just a little bit of my poor me this morning...

my neck is stiff all over again plus my thoat feels like it is on fire! The dr told dh that Ike really stirred things up and ALOT of people are sick with their allergies. I sure hope dd doesn't relapse. She woke me up an hour ago (6AM) telling me her eye hurts. Dear God, please do not let her get pink eye!

Laura-how are you doing? Any better at all?

Judy-give me an example of your 6 meals per day thing. Thanks about cheering me on about the mile per day. I figured its gotta be better than nothing!

Suzie-I would not be able to go to a casino without playing at least ten bucks! That is restraint!

Jane-What is on your agenda today?

Michelle-I saw the weather just now and it said Hurricane Kyle is causing flooding in MD...are you effected?

Kat-did you go to the movies?

Pamela-I am so sorry about your dad. Words fail me:crying:

Tracy-how was your sisters celebration party?

Jenn-we hate when you go AWOL

Gina-have you gotten back on track with us trying to be good bandsters?

Haydee-how are you? How is the wedding business going? Any in the future?

I am hanging around the 210.5 to the 212 range. I guess the ice cream for my thro did not help but what is a girl to do? Every day I try to not let the scale get me down. Eery day I relive the fact that I have done this before and I am having to do it again. Ugh...let me stop there. I don't wanna rehash it (again). Its my own fault. :) I will stop whining and keep on working!

Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning Everyone!

Thank you all so much for your spiritual support this weekend. I did think of you all while I was in the service and wished you could have all been there....that would have been so great. It went very well but it was unfortunate that there were many who couldn't attend because of the effects of Hurricane Ike. Nevertheless, Mom surely was pleased because the Mass was so beautiful. My sweet brother-in-law began the service by reading the eulogy we wrote and he did a wonderful job. He choked up bad when it came to the part where we talked about how much she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren ....because she did. They were her life. The soloist was incredible and I did fine thru the service until she sang "Ave' Maria" and pretty much lost it then. It was my mother's favorite and I felt her presence filling the church during that hymn. Anyway, the flowers were all beautiful ... you wouldn't believe the central arrangement! It was a huge vase of entirely pink roses....probably at least 60 or more of them....and each was about 5" across. They were just incredible! Our friends and relatives were asked to take some home with them as they left and everyone liked that. I have several of them drying now and will make a little bouquet of some sort and will always treasure it. OH, and it was so sad because my son was not able to be there...he woke up yesterday morning nauseous and throwing up!! His medication does that to him sometimes if he hasn't eaten well. He was so upset and he tried so hard to get better. He just kept putting one foot in front of the other and moving slowly, but when it came time to hurry...we were now running late...he needed to try to get his suit on....he was running for the toilet!! He felt so bad but I assured him that is was alright...It is what it is and can't be helped. He was sick until 3:00p and then started feeling better. I was so glad we didn't push the issue -- can you imagine if we had "made" him go and driving across town (45 mins away!) worrying about him and/or having to stop or turn around!!? That would have been a disastrously stressful situation!

So, today is nice and quiet. The weather is stunning and kids are at their dad's and DH is playing golf. All is well.

Love you all and hope you have a wonderful day!

Terry, so glad that everything turned out great. That was what I was wishing for. Sorry about your son. Hope he's up soon and feeling better.

TracyK, I haven't gambled in about 4 years. I did take Abba dabba to the arcade and let her play games she could handle. She had a blast. I like to play the slots, it's just that I hate to lose also.

Hubby and I are going to Lake of the Ozarks today to visit an Uncle and Aunt. Hopefully we'll see some pretty trees.

TracyinKS, is there anything you need from the outlet malls? Shoes? let me know and I can pick them up.

We found gas last night for $3.09 WooHo!!!!!!

I'll check in later.

HELLO ALL!

Pam I'm so sorry about your dad. Your making my band swell up just reading about him and your get out of jail card.. makes me think of my dad. Hard ass as he is, he would bail me out, and has bailed me out of horrible situations.. (like the last straw with shrek) My heart goes out to you.

Terry: The service sounds beautiful. I'm sure your mom's spirit was pleased.

I had a good time yesterday....... I got my new shoes, and I ended up not staying over at my sisters..... I brought home leftover brisket and misc goodies for the boys and thats what we are eating for lunch. DH was glad I came home....... His friend bob and wife stopped by after the Nascar races so they were here when I arrived and that was nice. He must of unloaded a bit about our issues because Heather told me that we were both strong personalities and that is the reason we clashed. LOL

I need to go check on the brisket...

Have a great rest of the day!

Checking in before I head for my nap.

TracyK... the six meals are...

breakfast (usually oatmeal or an egg)

3 hours later some kind of protein.. usually yogurt or string cheese

3 hours later lunch... tuna or tilapia ... Protein and greens

3 hours later... string cheese or yogurt or tuna

3 hours later dinner...protein and greens

3 hours later....string cheese or yogurt or tuna

So basically eating the right things, but every 3 hours so you tend to eat less at a meal and feel satisfied... especially knowing you can have something again in just 3 hours. My timing is usually 8:00, 10:30, 1:00, 4:00, 7:00, 9:00 p.m. I can skip the 9 p.m. if I want to or if I sleep later in the morning and throw the whole system off. I get at least 5 meals a day in no matter what.

Off to napland..

Catch you all later!

Hi all,

Dad is not doing well. I will go up there in 2 weeks, flying from Palm Springs on Sat to Reno, and returning on Sunday. Just want to go have some time w/ dad and play backgammon. I am beyond bummed...and basically feel cheated. BIG TIME PITY PARTY HERE.

Watching Tina Fey as Palin now from Sat. Night Live...too funny.

Have a nice Sunday Violets

Quiet here. Nursing a cold, not bad, just ugh.

You know I have been thinking a lot lately about how much I haven't lost. But, the truth is, I have lost a lot of weight. No, I am not at my goal, I still have a lot to lose. But, even if I don't ever lose another pound, I still have lost a lot of weight. I don't think I could have done this without the band. Plus I know that I wouldn't have met all you! So instead of beating ourselves up over not losing, til the end of the month lets be overjoyed by the amount we have lost!!!! Plus we need to update the spreadsheet that Tracyks set up for us!! For me I could look at it as depressing that I have actually gained weight since I last recorded, but I have lost overall!!!!! So here is to us!!!!!!!!!!!!

:teeth_smile::thumbup::wink_smile:WAY TO GO VIOLETS:biggrin::thumbup::redface:

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
