---and we are all going to go have Mexican food! Wish that they made that cheese thing Jane had in Gruene.....mmmmmmmm

OK-----------so I was seriously going to send Jane some batteries, and was going to make a half assed guess at size being similar--batteries girls! Went and checked mine, and OMG girls they corroded in there!!! Scared to ask what THAT means!!!

The dish is called Queso Flameado and here's a recipe... it couldn't be any easier! This recipe calls for chorizo (mexican sausage), or you can make it with mushrooms, peppers and onions (also good), or grilled shrimp. It's all good! Take the recipe with you and ask them to make it for you!!

And...if your batteries are corroded it means you worked that dang thing to death!!! Time for a new one! LOL!

Jane, go get batteries before I come out there and beat you like a red headed stepchild!! THEY HAVE THEM AT THE GAS STATION!! It's the weekend, you need to try out the new.. honorary violet. (It's purple ya'll) :(

Time for more judge shows.

But Terry, there is no setting it on fire in that recipe, and that looked like fun.....and also kinda dangerous for someone as klutzy as me!!! LOL!!!

You know Terry, today in the PS's office, he had a poster up on the wall showing results of Restalyn injections. I started thinking about you, and I have debated saying anything but here goes.....I debated, because I know we have to live with ourselves and no one else understands----but when you first mentioned seeing a PS about a couple of procedures, then you come back with a laundry list!!! But girl, I just saw you and I CANNOT see why you would want to do all that----you are beautiful!!!! I understand the lines we discussed the parenthesis around the mouth---I would like mine gone too!!! But, you look way younger than I do, and I cannot imagine having all that done! Years down the road, to come back to looking like you do now....maybe, but it is my sincere opinion, that you do not need a face lift, you look wonderful! OK now I will butt out!!!!

We went to dinner, to the pet parade, and to the burning of Zozobra. The guys had a few beers, now Rick is snoring like crazy, and I cannot get comfy, so thought I would get up until I got reeeeeally sleepy and could maybe fall asleep, I tried for an hour, and gave up and got up!!!

So during dinner they brought around pieces of paper for us to write our gloomy, doomy thoughts on.....then you take them and they stuff them into Zozobra (a "thing" about 12 foot tall, a wire frame, stuffed with these notes, newspaper, a few firecrackers---and covered in sheeting, and painted to look like a mean old man). One of my papers said "Anything that stands in the way of future Violet get togethers"!!! They have a parade-----following along behind Old Man Zozobra, some carrying candles, and when they get to the designated spot, the candles get tossed on him and as he burns so do all the gloom and doom thoughts inside him. It is a Mexican tradition----they do it every year.

I did not walk the parade---I rode the golf cart with a friend who is in a cast following ankle surgery!!! Lucky me!!!

Rick reserved us a cart at the Country Club tomorrow for the API golf tournament----a petroleum industry thing they do each year. About 45-50 different companies---all with something to do with the oil/gas fields---set up huge canopies, with tables full of give aways and tables for eating, because each company tries to out do the other in the BBQ--it is of course a competition. There is always brisket, ribs, burgers, pork, bacon wrapped shrimp, kabobs, brats----you name it, plus all the sides. drinks, alcoholic or not-----and you just go around sampling and visiting! There is at least one company at each hole, and set up all around the perimeter---so you have to pace yourself!!!! Rick got our friends to take their ice cream machine out there, and it is a hit!!

They give away tshirts, hats, visors, fans, can cozies, anything the company can get their name on!!! I got a manicure set!!! And Chapstick---all with oilfield companies names on them!!!Hilarious!

That is our plan for tomorrow. I was not planning on going----but figure with the cart, I will be ok, plus we do have some friends who have a home on the green if I do need some down time.

Well, guess I will go check my email, and maybe play some cards to make myself sleepy!!!

Check in with ya tomorrow.....eeeerrrrr later today!!!!

I'm back....

Came home from work without batteries, but will buy them this weekend. You guys are soo funny!!! I forgot all about the shower massage thing!! that is tooo funny, I laughed, but not as much as I did two weeks ago................................ My question is who will come to my house if I die and remove them????

Jane, this made me LOL! When I was in college and my best friend and I had our first, um...thingermabob...we promised that if we died, we would go in to each other's house and get it out!

Now, I have a drawer:biggrin:

Party was a blast!! I just wanted to pop in. At more than one point tonight, I thought of you all (ya'll) and thought about how great it would be if ya'll were here...even instead of my friends, lol. I wish, sigh~

Oh Yeah,

I called Terri and she answered, "What are you up to?" To which I replied, "Eating M & M's at Wallmart," haha.

I had to call for the Gruene Margies reciep...ya'll remember the first day margies...all of us squeezing in the cuzzi! That was 2 weeks ago tonight. ANYWHO...Terri you saved me...the margies were fabulous...and I toasted to you w/ my very first sip:rolleyes:.

Judy~Sorry about the Pistons. I thought about you tonight too.

Letterman is on...wow, haven't been up this late since TX...Sat, 2am, that was a funny pic I put on Jane's phone...omg!

Good Morning V I O L E T S..............

Today is my morning to work than we have a graduation party to go to. It's supposed to be a little on the muggy side today. Sure wish I had a pool to be in but one of the good news is that the guys decided to finish the fence last night, so that is all done.

Well, I feel left out. I don't have one of those thingy's in my bedside drawer. Good thing I have a man in the house. :(

Everyone have a great day.

Good Morning, Violets..

Yucky, rainy day today. We had thunderstorms roll through last night and it rained a ton. My swimming pool is just about topped off now.:(

I'm waiting for Ethan to arrive for the morning. We had planned a cookout today for the Bobster's birthday, but it's too wet and yucky so we'll postpone it til tomorrow after church. Luckily all the food will still be fine one extra day in the fridge.

There's no joy in Mudville today since the Pistons went down in flames last night. I was so hoping they would get to the finals this year. They have to do something and that means firing the coach or letting some players go and that makes me sad. BUT the Red Wings have a chance at the Stanley Cup so life goes on!!

Jane, thanks for the purple note in the purple envelope. What fun to get mail from a Violet Sista!!

I'm babying a sausage cheese omelette right now. Chew, chew, chew and wait between bites. It's going down, but not very easily.

Hope everyone has a relaxing Saturday. I'll continue cleaning and getting things ready for the cookout whenever it turns out to be!

Good Morning, Vi's~~

It's supposed to be warmer (80s) & getting humid here today, + thunderstorms... bye bye Spring, hello summer!

Have ds's soccer game in 45 mins, then dd has riding @ 3... other than that, it's work, errands, etc... the regular stuff of which my life is made!

I'm feeling so much better mentally!... ever since my fill I've been a good bandster & the scale has dropped an amazing 6 lbs since Thursday!! (I know, I know, Water weight... I don't care WHAT it is!!) The fact of that "on stage" fill in a couple weeks is keeping me on track... I'm playing a game w/myself (no batteries required!) to see how much I can lose between now & then! Monday I'll be back to working out @ the Y... it's been 3 weeks since I've been! Yikes!

I had a thought in the shower (where I do all my best thinking!)... If we Vi's can be spontaneous... then maybe sometime when Laura's dad (& Laura, obviously!!) goes to Tunica we can tag along in one of his comp'd rooms?? Just a thought... as I often find myself thinking of ways to get us together again sooner than next summer! (I don't mean to overstep my bounds w/the suggestion, Laura... it just came to me!)

Make it a good one, Vi's!

I'm in :(

But I should warn you Tunica is like an afterthought right now. He's going to Belmont, then straight from NY to BAHAMAS (I so jealous), and then in July he goes to the world series in Vegas.. if he makes final table he promised to charter a plane and take the family out there. My fingers are crossed on that, since I can't afford vegas anytime soon!!

Suzy.. man or no man, I am keepin my drawer. If I die and husband is alive, he'd dispose. If we both died, well.. I don't care, I'll be in heaven!!!

I did have my friends come help me move out of a dorm when I was in college at Auburn, and poor planning, I just gave everyone a box and said clean out everything you see. I had put my BOBs in a duffle bag in a box, but someone decided to fill the duffle bag up, so they opened it and they bounced to the floor. I was pretty emberassed, but now it's just a funny story!

Going to see Sex... @ noon w/ a friend! I am bushed from the party. I have WAY too much food, chips, etc. My brother and nephew are coming by later...and leaving w/ food and chips!

Laura, so this is what I read & how it sounded in my head, ok? (now that you know me, I'm sure you can add in the appropriate inflections & gestures  --

"...blah blah blah... my dad's going to charter a plane & take the Vi's to Vegas!... blah blah blah..."

Works for me!

:(

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
