Wanted to update my progress. Saw my surgeon last Monday and she said just as soon as she gets the ok form the insurance company ( 2 to 6 weeks) she will schedule my tests and date :wink2: Sure am hoping it only 2 weeks but that stupid insurance likes to mess things up! I'll keep you updated.

Hi, Unitygal, I'm 28days post surgery and already am completely off all of my blood pressure medicine- Im 12 lb off after banding, 10lb lost before surgery and another 10 for my son's wedding in November 07-- so that is 32 pounds - I'm half way to 62yrs. my bmi was 41- now only 38.8- I am glad I made the decision. Good luck on your decision making Esther

Hi Group, I have a question- I'm 28days post banding, no fill yet, but I was wondering if any one is still having pain at their surgery sites. I am still too tender to wear pants that don't have elastic waist bands, - Those I tend to either pull up and over the tummy or under it. Also even though I am loosing, my waist is just as large if not still a little swollen. Is this normal? Is or did anyone else have that trouble.

Esther

I think I was pretty tender for about 6 weeks. My incisions are all above my waist...midriff section actually. My bras were more of a problem, And yes I was bloated or swollen too. It gets better. It might help to massage those iincisions gently with some nice lotion (if there are no open areas)

Thanks Sharon, now I have another question. I just found out my elderly Uncle is having serious surgery on his spleen at the end of February and his Dr wants donations of blood in his name. Is there a restriction in how long to wait after surgery to donate, or does it matter.

Esther.

I am going through the process now for my surgery. I will be seeing the Psychologist on March 4 and the Dietician on March 13. I have an appointment for the Pre Op on March 5 2008. My insurance runs out on March 30 so I am trying to rush the process. I will have a new insurance on April 1 and don't know if they will cover the lap band susrgery. I certainly don't want to go through the process again for the new insurance company. I live in Manteca, CA a would like to hear from you again so that I can follow your progress. Maybe we can compare and give each other ideas or recommendations to help each other out.

Greetings! I'm so glad to have found this group. I'm 61, live in northern Alabama, and was banded Monday, 3/3/08. Right now I am really hungry, and am looking forward to starting full liquids on Monday. I've not had too much trouble with incisions until today, when they started itching like crazy. Also my stomach is quite swollen and wearing any kind of pants is difficult. I got out for the first time today, to a support group (all by-pass patients) and then to the grocery store. Was totally exausted after that. I'm having a lot of trouble maintaining body temperature. Anyone else have that? Sweaty-hot one minute, freezing the next. I'll sure look forward to any suggestions from those whe 'have been down this road'! Thanks, Nancy

29_1_4.gif Hi Everyone,

I am glad to be part of this group and I am praying for each &

everyone of you!

My name is Susan and I live in Boise, Idaho. I lost my

husband in the Line of Duty, it will be 6 years on March 12th.

He was a Police Officer.

My whole life changed, I have struggled with losing weight since

I had my last child in 1974. I reached an all time High of 300lbs

this year. I heard about Lap Band on a TV. I first went to

the Dr. on Jan 16th and weight in and then I went through all

the testing and finally I am scheuled of Surgery March 11th

with Dr. Bryan Anderson.

I have been on a liquid diet for 3 weeks and have found in the

last few days I am getting very dizy. Has this happed to

anyone?

What has everyone been sipping for food the first 2 weeks

Post Op?

16_1_23.gif I know that we can do this, the band does it's part and we do

ours. We will be healthy & well and get off all our meds. Has

anyone had problems taking medication after surgery?

Blessings to all!

Susan

Welcome to our site SusieQ. I'm so sorry that you lost your Husband. I lost my oldest son 2 years ago and really piled on the weight after that.

For the dizzieness, drink more fluids. You might want to drink some gator aid or broth so you get all the electrlytes you need. There is a food section here that has recipes and ideas for every stage of the process. Hope you can find and get some ideas.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
