Perth people, where are you?

Its only natural to be nervous but it's not worth it. I remember the night before the op I didnt sleep, and on the way to the hospital I cried! And I dont cry easily.

If I look back now though, I am laughing at myself. It was so simple and just not worth losing sleep or crying about.

:) Hi Bandits!

My name is Lou and I was banded on September 24 by Dr Senerath Werapitiya in Bunbury.

I am very happy to have my band but I am in need of support and advice. I had my first fill of 5ml a week and a half ago and I am not really feeling any more restriction than before. I am feeling frustrated! I have lost 10 kilos so far.

LouLou... most people don't feel a better level of restriction until they have had a couple of fills... you may just be in that group! :tongue2: Book another appointment and see how you go. After a week if you feel the same, book again and once again, see how you go... You will get there... Just keep positive

Thanks schmack!

I think I am feeling a little less hungry and I have lost 900g in the last week so I am not doing too badly. I am looking forward to my appointment on December 2. My Dr won't give me another fill until then. He is very much in favour of "slow and steady" with the fills. He thinks that is more effective.

Hi guys!

I feel I need to re-introduce myself! I was banded in March of 2008, and was doing so so well, but had some huge stuff happen at the end of 2008 which caused me to basically give up on all of this because it wasn't my priority...

But I'm back now! I have only lost 25kgs since surgery..but am back on track!!

You'll all be seeing a heap more of me and I hope youre all ready to be bombarded with a bunch of stupid questions :tongue2:

You go for it, Danni! One of the things I love about the band is that it is possible to get back on the wagon again, after having fallen off, and to keep right on going. Good luck and feel free to ask any questions :tongue2:

PS: Don't forget that 25kg is a WONDERFUL achievement and proof that you can do it!

Sorry I missed this earlier, Caz. I'm at Argyle Diamonds (and sadly, no, they don't pay me in diamonds :nono:).

Hey Lou, welcome! Schmack is right - the docs like to sneak up on restriction gently. If they fill too fast, your stomach will rebel and you'll get stuck and PB lots - not a nice feeling. Hang in there - it will come!

I'm in, I was banded by Stephen Watson on the 2nd November

Welcome Tegan. I was done by Stephen Watson too - maybe I'll see you in the waiting room one day :P.

Thanks schmack!

It is more effective, Lou. It's hard at the beginning to pace yourself, because we want so badly to lose the weight. But we all know, having been told over and over all our "fat days" that the healthy way to lose is slowly and steadily. That's why I got the band. I knew that I had to restrict my eating for at least 2 years if I was going to reach my goal and there is just no way I could face 2 years of dieting on willpower alone! The Hunger Demon would never have let up and 15 years of trying had proven to me that I couldn't defeat him on my own in the long run (short battles, yes, 2 years - no way!) So I got a secret weapon in that battle and guess what? Two years later and that Demon has been SLAIN!! :tongue2:

Thanks so much for the encouragement!

One of the hardest things for me is that a friend of mine has had very quick results and I can't help but compare myself to her.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
