Wow I missed lots of posts.

I have 2 cents on Minneapolis Mall of America.. I went to a family reunion up there, and first off, I hate malls. But for the experience- I went.. and honestly, I was really disappointed. Didn't like the shops, too crowded, and too many floors. But that's my opinion, and I guess since I don't like malls, it's not a sell point for me! I like shopping strips, where the stores are in a row outside, I don't like walking around inside malls.

Anyway, as for the Carolinas, I have a lot of family there. We go there every once in a while, and Charleston (I can NEVER remember which city is in which state), I wanna say NC. Charleston is AWESOME. It's so romantic. They have ghost walks, which I love.. lot of historic site seeing, we walked around the city for days. I love it, and it was on my choice of places to honeymoon :pray2:

I just called them and I could have a total of 3 (2 bedroom park models) 1 in my name and the other two could be in Kat's name or Terry's name....... AND if you completely wanted your own reservation you could sign up for the TOUR! LOL..

Hilton Palacio del Rio

30_star.gifRatings

Location: San Antonio - Riverwalk

Located near The Alamo and the River Center Mall, The Hilton Palacio Del Rio is situated on the famous Riverwalk and adjoins La Villita, the original Village of San Antonio. Step outside the hotel and enjoy all of the activity and entertainment this great location affords

this trip round trip from Baltimore MD would cost me $652.50 and the room is based on dbl occupancy so..... someone would just need to get there...

that is if Michelle would fly with me????

Terry------your assignment should you choose to take it----is get us some San Antonio links---or did I miss them???

The riverwalk many, MANY years ago was enough that my DD who was 7 (so almost 20 years ago) still talks about it and wants to go back. She remembers the ride on the canal----it is also something I would love to do again.

Branson is somewhere on my TO DO list---------so.......I too like the narrowing down of it!

Laura, I was just kidding---the mall is something I have to do with my girls!

It is a long convoluted story. My DD and my former best friends DD, Jesica, grew up very very close. Jesica lives in Minnesota now, and wants us to come see her. What muddles things up??? Her Mom, one of my old time best friends from grade school....is now living with Manda's Dad, my ex husband! Which in an of itself, I could deal with, but she lied about it to me for years! I would chew Manda out about keeping my business my own, not to share details of MY life with him. He would call over here, usually drunk, and know all this stuff. I had no clue---for all I knew only thing we had in common was a daughter! Then by total accident, when going over to visit the DD in from Minnesota----I saw pictures of him, and figured it out. I could have dealt with her lack of taste, but her lack of honesty killed the friendship. He and I divorced because he was fooling around. He is still married to someone else, and living with her, he has not changed!

Anyway the girls have kids 2 days apart! Gage was born 2 days after Kinsey. So we made tentative plans to go in September of this year.

Not a big deal---malls are a take it or leave it for me. I will say I like them much more now that I can buy things in them in many stores besides Lane Bryant!!

Ok no cruise or we have to take Charles.....and if we take Charles, we don't see any of Tracy!!!!!!!!!! So much for him acting as body guard!!!

Hugs~~

Kat

If we opt for TX--there is going to be driving involved. It has been years since I drove in SA.......the damned inner loop and I hated one another!! Do we have willing drivers?

Kat

If we choose San Antonio, I will drive there. It is like I think 3-4 hours from houston. By the way, I have a van so I can fit myself & 5 more (or 6 depending on how small we all are by then).:pray2:

Transportation.... :pray2: I am one hour from Branson, and I am <15 minutes from Springfield Airport.

I can drive 5 of us, anywhere, or in Branson wherever we would need to go. I could possibly barrow a Suburban. How many bandsters can you fit in a Suburban?

As for TX, not sure if I could drive, or fly in.

(Tracy... have you been to Branson Landing yet? LOVE IT. If you can not book enough, do you think someone else could book for us too, if they do not plan to go? My friend goes there a lot. I assume she is member/owner????)

OK.... I'm just going to say this.......

Not everyone is hip on Branson for this trip, so I say lets take it off the table and decide on San Antonio.

We can always plan a SECOND weekend in Branson for a later time and those of us who would do it.. can.. OK? Even if it is just a Kat/Tracy/MaizeMommie weekend! :pray2:

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
