I was banded this past Friday and i have lost 17lbs so far. I have not had any problems other than a little pain around the port sight. I am still on the Clear Liquids until this coming Sunday, so it will have been 10 days of clear liquids, then I get to move on to "mushy" foods. I am so excited about eating something with a little texture! I go for my first fill on 2/4/08............I can wait to weigh in then! Good Luck to all:whoo:

I really give you guys that had to be on clear liquids so long a hand! I hated just having to do them in the hospital. I don't like jell-o so it really limited me on what I could eat! I was glad to start full liquids which for me included yogurt, cottage cheese, and a scrambled egg. It was very filling and I couldn't finish all of it, but it made me feel a lot better. I went to the doctor last Wednesday for my 1 week post op check and she said I was fine to go ahead and start eating whatever as long as I was VERY careful and chewed a lot! I had my work Christmas party on Friday and was able to have some mashed potatoes and gravy, some chicken and even a glass of wine (which I didn't finish). But, it was wonderful. I hardly ate anything and got full. I ate slow so I didn't get sick. Lots of chewing, but it was worth it. I had a wonderful time! Good luck to everyone and keep me updated on how you all are doing! I love to come on here and just hear how everyone is feeling!

I forgot to add that I go for my first fill on the 30th of this month. She said that they do fills between 4-6 weeks and that because I was already getting hungry, I would probably need mine at 4 weeks...anybody else already scheduled?

I was banded on 1/4/08 and I am scheduled for my first fill on 2/4/08, exactly 4 weeks! My doctor seems to be more aggressive than most, but I am still not hungry! I started on mushy food yesterday, I have to do that for the next 2 weeks, then I can start on solids also!

I wish I wasn't hungry, but I am. It is funny, though, because even though I am hungry I can't really eat that much--definitely not like before. I can eat a couple of ounces of chicken and then a little bit of mashed potatoes or a little bit of a vegetable (if it is cooked). I am craving a salad, but can't have one of those for a while. You will have to let me know how your fill goes. I am a little nervous for mine, but all steps we have to take on this wonderful journey, right?

I can not believe you are already eating normal food! I just started mushy food yesterday and I can not have "solid" foods for 2 more weeks! You are lucky! I am nervous about my fill also, but from people I know they say it is a piece of cake! I will let you know!

I guess it used to be that the program here made lapband patients stay on liquids a lot longer, but they discovered that if the patient is hungry and tolerates solid food, that it is better for that patient. I guess it keeps people from getting too hungry and "giving up." I don't know if I could have handled not eating, I was way too hungry. I even tried all the tricks like adding ice and eating popsicles. My swelling just went down quick. For the most part I heal pretty rapidly.

I am scheduled for the doctors on January 30th too. I am not feeling hungry. Started mushy foods today and couldn't tolerate grapefruit and bananas earlier, but was able to get 3oz of tilapia in Tomato sauce down for lunch. That is one flaky fish that was delicious.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
