Feelin' down and frustrated need support, please

jfran, I know how you feel. I've been dealing with thoughts of failure lately and it really sucks. You've done so great. I know with you having PCOS, like me, it doesn't help. Sometimes the hormones kick in and makes us feel even worse. Be proud of yourself. You can do this!

I just wanted you to know that you're not alone. I hope that you get out of this plateau soon and kick butt on the scales!

Thanks georgia girl! I have decided to get a small fill and cut out some of my carbs as well as varying my workouts more. Hopefully that will do the trick!

I hope that works for you. I'm going for a fill Wednesday and I'm hoping to finally get really good restriction. Good luck and hang in there, you've done so good and I know you can do this!

JFran-

I would give anything to be at your place in your weight loss. In fact, can you tell me what you are eating, how often, etc. that would be great!! I was banded on Nov. 1st. I had my first fill on 12/17 and have my second one tomorrow. I lost 18 lbs preop and not only have I not lost any more weight I have gained about 7 back! EEEEKKK. I am hoping my 2nd fill tomorrow helps but I need some guidance. I, too, am down because it has been 2 months since my surgery and nothing is moving on the scale. I can eat like a horse and really want to feel full.

I don't want you to feel down because there are people that are behind you and are looking for your guidance and what you have been doing right all along. Congrats and know that we are all feeling frustration from time to time. We are all in it together.

Hi there,

I was banded 11/21/07. I lost 10 pounds on the pre-op, but since then have struggled to lose any more. I had one fill on 1/2/08. I'm so discouraged as I'm doing everything right. I keep wondering if I will be one of the people who don't lose weight no matter what they do.

Thanks for any info you can give on what you normally eat in a day - also what do you do for exercise?

Many thanks,

Linda

Linda:

I eat 5-6 small meals a day (usually 200-300 calories each)consisting of lean meat (chicken/fish), veggies (brocolli, green peppers, onions, zuchini, spinach, tomatoes, etc.), fruit (red grapes, strawberries, blueberries, peaches, etc.), and whole grains (rice, wheat crackers, whole wheat pasta)

I steer clear of potatoes and bread, nothing but Water and skim milk to drink also do green tea.

I take Vitamins and Calcium everyday.

I exercise 6-7 times a week usually 2-3 hours at a time. I do the arc trainer, treadmill, and elliptical and I also weight train 3 times a week.

Make sure you are eating Breakfast. it jump starts the metabolism and also it is best to eat every 3 hours to fuel your furnace of a metabolism. Exercise is essential. Also drink tons of Water (I drink about a gallon a day).

How many calories are you eating? It may not be enough and your body may be trying to go into starvation mode.

Good luck with your weight loss.

I just posted a new thread called "what WON'T you do to lose weight" because I'm going through very similar emotions right now. So I don't have any advice but I wanted you to know that you are not alone!

UPDATE!! I am feeling better. I did a 3 day liver detox and have lost 5lbs. I went to my doctor today and got a fill so this should help aid the weight loss. Also I got the results of my blood work and EVERYTHING was within NORMAL ranges.

Feeling less frustrated and more proud of myself. Thanks for everyones kind words, compliments, and advice.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
