Beware Dr. De La Garza

I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience however, I am one of many Dr. De La Garza fans if it were not for him I would still be miserable in my own skin and I owe it all to Dr. De La Garza. He not only was very concerned with my welfare after surgery but when I was stranded in Mexico after losing my birth certificate he did everything he could possibly do to help. I find that it has taken this person so long to tell his story kind of suspect. If he in fact had this experience I would challenge him to find a Dr. here or anywhere that doesn't have some kind of complaint about them. I think it doesnt matter how much rsearch you do on a Dr. there is always a risk having any surgery done. I would let Dr. De La Garza do my surgery again and again.

Dr. Sanchez died on December 2nd so he isnt capable of doing your surgery. I worked with Dr. Sanchez for 3 years and he was never associated with Dr. Javier De La Garza.

I am so sorry to hear of your complete and total bad situation. I live in Oklahoma and there is a dr here still performing surgery and has done many of the same types of things. He is no longer allowed to practice at a couple hospitals. But...how do you get the word out? I have told so many people and even pre ops but if they have found their "hope", love is blind. I know these things because one of my best friends is an ICU nurse. Believe me, if you ever want the inside scoop on a dr, get to the nurses. They see the inside.

Now for Mexico, JMO of course, I loved it!!! I will never have elective surgery in the US again. NEVER... I went to Dr. Ortiz and have not one thing negative to say. The quality of care and depth of accuracy was unbelievable. I have never had such care in a US hospital. Now I'm not speaking of being ill, just elective...WLS, boobs, face lift, plastics, those sorts of surgeries. The price too was unbeatable. The lowest I found in this area was 18500 for the lapband, and Dr. Ortiz was 8500. Huge difference. But I must say, post op, if the prices were reversed I would still go to Mexico. The over all experience was so above average. I researched this for five years and I think that made a huge difference too.

Happy days and sweet dreams all...may we all be the "thin" person we are on the inside.

I'm all for leaving this post up. The good needs to be read with the bad and then people left to make up their own minds.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
