Welcome and congratulations to all the new banders. I had a really good run with mine, no real side effects so if you are feeling good then you should continue to do so (of course don't take my word for it).

TOTALLY NORMAL! Most of us have all the same fears about surgery. We know there is some risk and that's scares us, but lots of things in life and worth doing are scary.

March Forward! In 24 hours it will all be behind you!

Crystal, Remember your journey will start after the surgery, but it's not necessarily going to be a quick trip.

There will be the possible post op surgery pain/gas to deal with for the first few days, plus a restricted post op diet to follow and then the fill process. Fill, get tight, become loose, get another fill and repeat, until you hit your right spot.

Not trying to be a downer for you, but really want you mentally prepared. For me, being mentally prepared for the process has been very helpful.

Good Luck. Check in when your surgery is complete.

I was banded on the 28th as well. More pain than I thought. A little nausea, but not too bad. I was planning on going back to work on Thursday, but I don't know about that now!

HI Tracey,

I had my band on Friday. I have lots of gas pain as well. I'm still unable to drink more than a teaspoon of Water at a time. However, the stomach muscle pain has gotten a lot less.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
