In one week I am getting Breast Augmentation.

Ok...so I KNOW I KNOW that the doc says to completely unfill before surgery (incase you vomit and what not). But my doctor has prescribed TWO anti-nausea medicines so I think i'll be ok. I have been unfilled before and have never gotten back to the point of restriction that I needed to be at. What would you do? Do you think i'll be ok or do you think i'm foolish for not following the rules?

Thanks

I have had only had one fill and do not feel really restricted at this point, but although I can PB, I can't seem to vomit. Since my fill, I have had 2 occasions where I didn't feel well and really felt the need to vomit and I COULDN"T (even with finger down throat). Previously, I could pretty much puke on demand (I know - too much information!).

I wouldn't risk my health - go for the defill. Better safe than sorry!

I had no idea that it was recommended to unfill before planned surgeries.

Any plastic surgery patients out there or anyone whose had any other surgery after lapband, that can enlighten us about this requirement?

Does every Dr. recommend this?

I would have to say, I would follow my Dr's orders. Not sure I would be happy about it, it can take so long to get to the right restriction and then to lose it? Or maybe ti would just be a little vacation from the band?

Not every doctor recommends it, but if you doctor is telling you to do something, I would listen.

I just had a lower body lift and they didn't touch my band. No problems with nausea, I just take my meds with a little food.

I have consulted 2 surgeons for a TT and Breast Lift. Both of them have told me there is no need for an unfill UNLESS I get sick. If you get sick from the medications or ect and vomit you could have a problem. However I will be getting the patch for nausa as well as pills. I would ask them again! BUT in the end, if he says yes you must, I would follow Dr's orders!

I had an emergency appendectomy this month. I told EVERYONE I had the lap band especially the anesthesiologist! They put one of those motion sickness Patches on me plus prescribed 2 anti-nausea meds for afterwards.....I was fine! But I always say do what your doctor says......he knows your whole story not us!

Good luck!

You never know . . . anesthesia makes me desperately ill. For my lapband they had to give me FOUR anti-nausea medications. The first three didn't help a bit. Finally, the nurse said, "this fourth medication is all we have left, if that doesn't work, you'll just have to live through it." Fortunately, it worked -- basically by putting me asleep, even with the nausea. So, I would definitely follow the doctor's orders, if it were me.

Why not just get the unfill and have the doc document how much you are currently filled to. Have the surgery and then once healed get refilled and get the same amount or maybe .1cc over? Is that possible? Just a thought.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
