Congrats on your surgery. I was banded Dec. 14th. In 1 week you will feel 100% back to normal. Do not over do it. Give it time. Make sure you get your protien every day.

I was up every one-two hours last night with the pain. It isn't as bad now today, it's now 4:30 p.m.

I'm somewhat hungry today, have that empty feeling, but I would say it's 10% of what it would be pre-band.

My husband has been a bit clueless and made Cookies and brought home McDonalds last night, ***sigh***. I told him to be a bit more considerate, it makes things difficult on me. I WON'T slip up, but still I don't need the constant teasing that the smell of food gives me.

My port site doesn't hurt as bad now. I can lay on my side with a pillow supporting that area.

I'm still downing T3 every four hours as opposed to 6-8 hours, I have to keep on top of the pain.

So I would say yesterday I felt a dismal 3/10, today is a 5/10.:whoo:

DOWN 9 LBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 275

It's now Monday morning (midnight).

I spent most of the day in bed today.

Pain is down to just being annoying now, just sore. Easier to use my stomach muscles.

I am now able to sleep on my side.

I'M NOT HUNGRY!! Amazing. Today I had Water, crystal lite, some broth, maybe three spoonfuls of Jello, and a LOT of peppermint tea. IT IS A GODSEND! It has helped my shoulder/internal gas soooo much.

I still have pain in one side of my shoulder...my three and five year old daughters love patting my back to "burp the baby" and playing "doctor" to fix my boo-boo's. :)

My husband was a knob today and made Cookies AGAIN. I woke up to the smell of them and it almost made me sick (I don't know why....). I told him before I had the surgery to PLEASE not bring junk food into the house, that would make it difficult for me, please be considerate. NOPE! He said, "Oh I forgot again, sorry! I just wanted to make Cookies for the girls" and I felt like ringing his neck. He made ME feel bad! Jesus H. Murphy I am the one who is recovering from surgery here! A little sympathy here???

I'm down 11 pounds now.

Today my husband had to work so I was stuck with the girls. I didn't get to lay down at all. I'm really sore and my gas pain is killing me again. I don't mean to be a whiner but my god, when will it end? I am going to take some ex-lax to see if that helps (read it sometimes helps, sometimes the bowels are pushing on a nerve or something...).

Feeling good today other than the shoulder/chest gas pains. I can't take deep breaths as it really hurts. I did some housework today and took a big nap. That heating pad is my best friend!

Down 13 now.

Roberta, Im totally with you on the husband being a knob, thing.

I dont know if im just overly senstive, but he's a skinny and can eat whatever he wants without getting big. And it seems like lately, he's going all out. Piggin out. Eating this, eating that, all in front of me. Im trying to remember, "Did he pig out this much before my surgery???"

I know im probably just noticing more since i "cant" have it.

sigh

Oh...the hubby stories. I have to tell this one.

We (me, my DH, my 13yo son, my 3yo son, and my 11 mo daughter) were traveling by car to my mother's house 12 hours away. We stopped at McD's so that they could eat, decided to drive through. Well, hubby, who swears he's going to try to eat like me and lose some weight too, is just INHALING his food. I look in the back seat and 13yo is chewing with his mouth open and gulping. I lost it. I mean, do I live with a pack of wolves??? Have they always been this horrible? Did I look like that before this started and that's why I never noticed? Good lord it was nasty. I snapped. I yelled. I'm not proud of it, but they shouldn't be either.

I don't think we noticed before our entire life was focussed on this silicone/plastic contraption that has invaded our bodies. (I love my band and I am looking forward to the journey, but it is an alien being in there at this point.)

I just had to join the significant other bashing :)

haha...thats hilarious. now, everytime my husband goes to the fridge, opens it up and says, "Theres nothing to eat....sigh" i say, "oh yeah? how about a yummy can of broth?"

He then realizes that compared to me, he's got tons of things he can eat.

Man, not eating sure makes me crabby.

I'm currently on the pre-op diet. DH says he's afraid to even cause the microwave to ding for fear of upsetting me. LOL Yesterday he managed to sneak and eat Soup and sandwich without me even noticing. Not that I'm a shrew or anything, I don't begrudge the man sustenance, I just don’t want to have to see and smell it.

He did say he’s giving up sodas as a show of solidarity. He’s trying to be supportive, but that man loves to eat.

My surgery is this Friday and I’m starting to freak out a little. I’ve had plenty of surgeries before (2 c-sections, hysterectomy, mastectomy), but this one is different, it’s life altering. I’m nervous.

Oh Sheila, I hear ya! My husband can pretty much eat whatever he wants, too. He lost 15 lbs just by switching to Coke Zero! No additional exercise or anything. So he's at his "goal" weight and there I am eating broth. :)

"jack sprat could eat no fat......":)

Steph, I noticed that, too! People just seem to INHALE food don't they? And I used to be JUST LIKE THEM. I never even paid attention to the food I ate before. Now, I am savoring every single *sip* (yup, still on clear fluids). Earlier today my husband was frying HAMBURGERS (oh god...), the smell was overwhelming. Normally I absolutely detested the smell when he fried burgers and I would tell him to turn the fan on, open the door, etc. etc. (sensitive nose), but tonight I was right in front of the stove, watching it sizzle!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
