Eating is getting tough for me

New here but usually trolling,I'm having such a hard time with food no matter what it is fish, chicken, lean meats etc.

Some days or should I say most days just the thought and smell of food wanna make me gag, lately I have been passing days of not eating just supplementing with protein shakes.

My situation is everytime I do eat something I'm spending the next whole day visiting the bathroom 8-10 times a day and feel terribly crabby and have no value of life as I cannot leave the house without having an accident os two.

I am getting very frustrated and getting depressed of this situation.

I'm 9 weeks out this coming Tuesday and have lost 55lbs and down 2 pants sizes but not very happy about this bathroom thing and my quality of life as I can barely leave the house unless I don't eat a couple of days, and I don't even get hungry or feel like I can eat anything right now food just disgust me.

Any help I will appreciate.

Please talk to a doctor ASAP. This is not normal and you could be having a serious complication. Now is not the time to be looking for advise on the internet.

Agree with SpartanMaker, you need to contact your team. Do not hesitate and get help now!! That is what your surgical team is for, to call upon in such situations.

I agree with the other two posts, contact your surgical team, what you're experiencing in is not "normal." Don't risk your health further.

Did you go in to the clinic and did your doctor do a full physical? If not I would consider a second opinion especially being 9 weeks out. At 9 weeks you should be on solid foods unless you were advised to do liquid/puree for longer and you didn't? A second opinion can never hurt.

You said mentally food makes you want to "gag"and you find food " disgusting ", perhaps not only having a complete physical but talking to the dietician or a mental health professional would also help... Also, you never stated what your average meal menus consist of...and quantity..other than low fat meats and protein drinks. Are you getting enough fiber to assist with those " accidents"?

I'd at the bare minimum set up an appointment with the dietician. Good luck hope you start doing better soon!

Also spoke to the dietitian and agrees with the doctors recommendations, average meals consist of fish, poultry, lean ground meats rolled in burgers os small burgers, broccoli, carrots, and when I do eat it isn't very much just to the point of not getting totaly full.Fiber I'm not sure of except taking a fiber supplement.

I am having issues with food as well. Everything tastes so awful like the first bite is great then the rest just makes me gag. even foods I was so excited to start or foods i loved before. It's so hard and I get that awful taste in my mouth which i feel like is some of the cause of the food issues. It makes eating so hard I have to be so creative with food and have to have some type of sauce with it.

Everyone reacts to their surgery differently and everyone follows guidelines that can be and are different across the board.

I'm almost 13 years in from my first VS and almost a week in from my revision. Total Lost 90+lbs. Total re-gained 30lbs, total lost since revision last Friday, 5 lbs and counting.

As for your comment at 9 weeks out, foods make you ill or they are not sitting right, for you, I suggest you go back to protein shakes for a few days and, broth, S/F Jello, egg whites, diet string cheese, watered down sugar free juice

The program I am following is: 1 week clear liquids - I'll hit this, in 2 days. Weeks 2-8, same as above but adding in my protein shakes. Weeks 9-12 - soft foods, Salmon, Tuna and Protein Shakes ~ 2oz only, each meal. It is important to continue the protein shakes at this stage as well. No drinking 30 min prior to a meal, nor with and wait 30 minutes after to drink some water. For any food taken in, it helps either to put down your fork or chew for 29 "chews" each bite.

@Amber - congrats on your surgery - just a little insight to food after bariatric surgery. All my favorite foods tasted off to me as well. By trial and error, you will find what you like. Sauces are not the best choice to "mask" the foods as they have sugar and some have carbs and they are considered a processed food. Pick your favorite protein or try a new one. Omit seasoning and use a bit of coconut oil to cook it in, stovetop, sauté pan. The one constant for everyone is Protein First.

Your stomach is still healing as you continue to mentally heal as well. Take it slow and you will succeed. Remember why you are here. I could make a huge list of foods I no longer like lol, your now eating to live, not living to eat. It's hard but you'll get there.

I just had my revision this past Friday and the first few weeks are tough, but this too shall pass.

Have you had any tests done to see if there is an underlying problem? Could be something simple that your doc will fix. Also, have you considered adding fiber supplements and probiotics to help with constipation? And what about drinking more water? Try to keep hydrated as much as possible. If nothing else works, maybe you could work with a nutritionist to see if there is anything they can suggest that might help. Good luck!
