Hi- I had RNY I almost 5 years ago. Got to 132 pounds and currently at 144. I am freezing all the time. It gets in my bones and I often have to sit in a hot bath to get warmed up. I ordered a heated vest. I take a heating pad with me to places when I can. Does anyone who also deals with this post op have any advice on what they do or wear? Thanks!

Lots of us experience this post WLS. I wear multiple layers now, summer and winter. I always budget for being cold even when other people are *far* too hot. My rule of thumb is to wear two extra layers of clothing in any situation. I can always take a layer off if I need to, but I rarely do!

Yep, me too. The burning of the cold is awful. I dress according to my needs & take a coat with me & keep one in my car. But not having the heat bother me as much is wonderful.

Drinking a hot beverage (tea or coffee) helps. Warms you up from the inside!

This is something I am struggling with... I am wearing layers of clothes in my own home and outside because I am freezing all the time. I also have to use a heating pad to stay warm. I would love some advice on how to deal with this myself.

I’ve never been able to drink cold Water or other drinks (except champagne & a G&T they’ve got to be cold - LOL!).

Can’t change it. Just have to live with it & dress accordingly & be prepared just in case it’s colder than you expected (like in cinemas, hospitals, doctor’s waiting rooms, etc.) You may be one of those for whom it improves & you’re not as sensitive.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
