Welcome! Keep us posted. I hope you get your surgery date soon. 😊

Met with my surgeon today and started liquid diet. I am scheduled for next week (20th)! I reached out to a few friends that have had the sleeve in the past few years and got their tips. My husband is going to be able to go with me after all so it will be good. Hope everyone else is doing well!

I was scheduled 7/11 but cancelled due to what ended up being strep throat and, well, a nice panic attack the night before. My energy had been extremely low on the pre op diet and I got all depressed, got afraid it wasn’t going anywhere good with the post op diet. For those that had the surgery, did you struggle with fatigue/energy before or after? Do you feel nourished and hydrated enough in the post op period?

I’m a few days post op, and I did feel tired and a bit sad before during the pre op diet. I think constantly being aware of what I was going through helped me. If I felt sad, I looked into what was making me sad, and had a good think about it all. Remembering the reasons I chose the surgery was very important, and going into this journey knowing that I would second guess and question my decisions was helpful because I was prepared for it. I anticipated these feelings and reminded myself that it was all going as expected, the good and the bad, but all in the direction that I had chosen myself for the ultimate goal of losing the weight for good.

Hello! My surgery date is 7/31 and I’ve been getting prepared for surgery.

My question is regarding the all liquid post op diet. My doctor has me on a clear liquid diet for the day after surgery and then I can switch to all liquids (like shakes) and I should stay on this all liquid diet for 2 weeks before starting on “Soft Foods”

I over bought my drinks for these two weeks.

My question is: Can I stay on the all liquid diet for another week or two before moving to soft foods? Is there any potential down side to that?

Thanks!

i know everyone’s experience may be different but my surgeon said to start the diet they have (liquid- purée-soft foods) for a reason to make sure your stomach can get used to working and digesting food progressively. you still drink Protein Shakes while doing this

How many days do you have to do for your pre- op. I have to do 14 and I started on July 2 I may have started a day early lol. But I’m on day 9. It’s been a struggle I notice I don’t have much energy I’m always tired.

It has been hard. I’m not even 9 days in. I’ve found a groove. I’m enjoying chewing on ice as a snack 😂 Also, yogurts have given me something to spoon. Good luck!

I had my gastric bypass on July 6. Doing good getting my Protein in with the Clear Liquids but I'm struggling getting in my fluids.

I haven’t had my surgery yet, but I’m rooting for you. You got this. One sip at a time. 🤗

We have surgery the same day! I started my liquid diet on Monday. I’m on day 5. I’ve gotten into a groove and feel comfortable right now. Chewing ice and eating 2 yogurts a day has really helped. I also love the core power chocolate shakes.

Welcome! I’m on 7/20. Glad things are going well. My only issue with the pre-op diet was the airport. You can’t bring liquids, but they don’t have what you need. Now that I’m home, I’m in a groove. Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
