I also seem to do better with short walks in my neighborhood. I guess I just pushed it too far yesterday. Lesson learned! I have a family, but they are very supportive and helpful. My kids are also older and self-sufficient, which is huge! I took a month off from work, which was a good choice for me. I can't imagine juggling work with figuring out my new body.

LibrarianErin, I’m glad they know about it and you know what signs to look for. Tea sounds lovely! I have some fresh mint in my garden and now I might make some yummy, summery meadow tea. how has moving been going for you? I can relate to the short grocery trip. I took my son to an outlet center yesterday . I walked really slow and had to stop and sit after every store because I was having so much pain. It was a big mistake! Today I am just taking it easy.

Kim, I’m so glad things went well for you! I had a hernia too. I’m hoping the repair will keep reflux away. Get lots of rest at home and focus on the water. Good luck!

Glad to hear from you Erin! I get not spending a lot of time on social media. I feel the same way. I’m a little concerned about your fluid intake. Does your doctor know you are struggling? If not, maybe you should reach out. I understand it though. I am getting 64 oz in, but it is something I have to focus on all day. i was lucky enough to only need Lovenox while in the hospital. Sorry, you had to deal with that at home but way to think positively about it.

Sorry to hear about the nausea. That’s the worst. Did they send you home with medication to help? Have you tried peppermint or ginger tea? Glad walking is helping you. I hope you start to feel better soon.

So far, so good. I’m home now. Surgery went well. I didn’t have a lot of pain just discomfort. Felt like I did a heavy ab workout the day before. My chest felt tight too, like I couldn’t get a big enough breath. They had me on IV Tylenol and Toradol around the clock. My last dose was right before discharge today. I’ve only had Tylenol since I’ve been home. I’ve also been doing the incentive spirometry, which helps, but the most effective “treatment“ has been walking. I saw others say the same thing and it really does work! I haven’t had any nausea, vomiting, or issues with drinking. They had me take a pre-op antiemetic and I was on Zofran around the clock. I have some oral Zofran for home if I need it. I hope the rest of my July buddies have a good experience too! Good luck!

Oh no! I’m glad things are improving, but it stinks when things don’t go as planned. I’ll keep you in my thoughts.

Sounds like things are going smoothly! Thanks for all the info. I know we all will have different stories, but it helps to know what works for people. I’ll join you on the other side of surgery on 7/20. It’s summer here in the states, so hydration will be key!

Welcome! I’m on 7/20. Glad things are going well. My only issue with the pre-op diet was the airport. You can’t bring liquids, but they don’t have what you need. Now that I’m home, I’m in a groove. Good luck!
