Nausea made better by eating

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone!

I'm about 4 months post-op from gastric sleeve (12/2) and I have started noticing probably in the past 3 weeks that I feel nauseous from about 10am to 7pm unless I eat. It's almost like grazing to be honest. I might have lost 2lbs this month which is also concerning. I have tried my best to get back on a schedule (eating 3 to 5 times a day) the past week but the nausea is really hard to deal with. I don't eat on my 45 minute commute to and from work but the drive home is absolutely terrible. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

I am no expert but have you been checked for helicobacter pylori? And if you are not on acid reflux medication could also be too much stomach acid??

I haven't yet, but I see my doctor tomorrow so I was trying to get some feedback from everyone here. I didn't notice what I was doing at first. Thank you for your response it's a great help.

My twice a day PPI helped me turn the corner with my terrible nausea. I also got a wedge pillow for my bed so that I was more elevated at night. Nausea is the pits, I hope you get the nausea meds real soon

I’m surprised you haven’t been prescribed any anti nausea meds. Also wonder if it’s a sensitivity to something you’re eating.

What if you try sipping a Protein Shake on your way home to help offset the afternoon nausea. Grazing is fine. Many do graze or eat several smaller meals. It just depends what you’re grazing on & if you’re still keeping to your daily total calorie & portions sizes & meeting all your goals. For example you make an appropriate meal and eat it over two or three sessions.

I don't think daily nausea is a common symptom 4 months after a sleeve. Please check with your doctor to look into the reason you are going through this. Feel better soon.

Thanks everyone. They actually told me to drink 2 ounces of kefir in the morning (to do an intestinal flora reset) and switch my Vitamins with Iron, to before bed. The kefir has been a life changer. I feel a lot better. The nausea still comes but not as bad and it's a bit later in the day. They also told me to drink more fluids because sometimes when we need fluids we might feel nauseous. This has definitely been a journey and of course it's on going. Thanks again.

i get nauseous if i am hungry. I also get very hangry!!! If I am not going to be able to eat for a long while, i will at least drink a Protein Shake to help with the hunger. I am only 5 weeks out. I try to stay on an eating schedule of 3 times a day and a small snack of fruit in the afternoon and a Protein shake a couple hours after dinner

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
