Any April Surgery Dates?

I think my surgeon is not the norm because she doesn’t allow any Protein Drinks or powders with starting 60g Protein per day. All drinking is Water only with none 30 min before and after meals. I typically am able to get in almost 15-20g per meal depending on what it is. I count my prep time or go for a short slow walk before or after. No processed food of any kind and eating actual food starting day four. First couple days were tough but doing much better with it now at day 9 since surgery. I measure everything and read every label. Each meal goal is 3-4 oz of Protein and 4 oz of steamed veggie 2x a day/ fruit 1x a day. Was surprised that no sugar applesauce had 13g of sugar vs 4oz of apple has 8g no skin and diced up with high protein Greek yougut and cinnamon…yum! You’ve got this! Hope this helps.😊

I cut up an apple put it my Ninja blender and basically made my own applesauce - wow, it actually came out really good!! Thanks for the great idea!

The variation in post-op diet plans is really interesting. My plan doesn’t allow any veggies or fruit for at least 4 weeks, and then you can slowly incorporate first steamed veggies and eventually raw fruits and veggies. I’m 16 days out and am desperate for a salad!

Had my sleeve done at NYU yesterday, being discharged today. Has been blissfully uneventful - I’m worried it’s gonna hit when I get home!

Just Water so far - good luck to everyone else!

Good luck! I’m a New Yorker too.

I did it! Had my lap sleeve surgery yesterday and can proudly say that I survived. I did feel nauseous afterward and until I went to sleep last night. But today the nausea does seem to be gone. Also, since they inflate the belly for the laparoscopic work, the gas pains were insufferable. I sent my husband out to get GasX and it was a lifesaver. Highly recommend those getting the lap sleeve to make sure you have GasX too. Good luck!

Yesssssss Congrats 🎉

This coming Thursday the 27th for the sleeve.

Last night by far was the worst for me physically & mentally. Had a complete breakdown.

My potassium is way low, so my entire body hurts & I have fibromyalgia. So they started me on medication to bring my potassium level up. Now I just have to figure out how to get out of this fibro flare.

I know this is temporary and I will get better but man it was a tough night!

I’m three days out and trying yogurt for the first time today. It took an hour to get a Protein Shake down yesterday. I’m not looking forward to it!

You aren’t doing anything wrong at all. Your stomach is swollen and so you just can’t consume much. Focus on fluids and sip, sip, sip. I’m only 3 weeks out, but things that helped me a lot to date for my fluids are (1) warm bone broths (I like chicken) and (2) alkaline Water (which for some reason seems easier to consume).

Aww Steeler. Hope you’re ok. I have Fibro too so I hear you. Easier said than done but try and relax. The stress only makes it all worse as you know. You’re going to feel so different in a week or so! You got this.

Thank you. Yesterday was better. I got up and pulled my big girl britches up and got moving. Hurt like fire but I had to do it.

Hi all,

I had gastric sleeve surgery on the 18th. I must say so far so good. The first two days were rough. The gas pain of it all - no joke
I am now a week post-op and I feel great actually. The brain fog has lifted, I can drink more and move more. I still struggle 'foodwise', I need 2-3 hours for a friggin yoghurt.

Does anyone experience running out of energy quickly i.e., one moment you start an activity and you are still fine, the next - you want a nap ?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
