Has anyone gotten the sleeve or bypass after abdominoplasty and Lipo.

Recommended Posts

I know I did this in the wrong order. I had an abdominoplasty and Lipo a couple of yes ago after losing a bunch of weight only to go through a divorce and gain all my weight back.

I am going to a group meeting and my consultation on Monday. I'm curious to know if anyone has done this and what complications could arise. I'm concerned it will cause problems due to fibrous spots and my belly button being rerouted. Am I a lost cause?

I'm not sure if that will necessarily cause problems, but you'll probably be dealing with loose skin again after you lose weight...

I had gallbladder surgery aged 17 in 1976. This was before the days of keyhole. The surgeon was a butcher. Over the years I have had terrible pulling/ripping pains all the way down my internal torso. My bariatric surgeon said he had to free loads of scar tissue to do my sleeve surgery. My sleeve surgery took him 3 hours. I have never had a pulling pain since and I am very grateful. Its been a win win for me

I had a Tummy Tuck years ago and having surgery on March 20th. Neither the surgeon or internal medicine specialist expressed any concerns (though it was pointed out tummy tucks are controversial because they push your fat into your organs)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
