Congratulations. I had my surgery just over a month ago and it was a bit of a whirlwind!!

One recommendation: i was so grateful to have an electric blanket on my bed at home. The heat offered comfort and I believe greatly aided in my recovery. It also now helps soothe my stomach for any discomfort I experience from time to time as my stomach adjusts to incorporating solids.

Congratulations on getting your surgery date! It's great that you are feeling excited and motivated to make positive changes in your health. Remember, weight loss surgery is a tool that can help you achieve your goals, but it's important to remember that it's not a quick fix.

It will require a commitment to making lifestyle changes, such as eating a healthy diet and getting regular exercise. Your surgical team will provide you with guidelines and recommendations for your pre- and post-surgery diet and exercise plan.

It's also important to remember that weight loss is not always linear, and you may experience plateaus or fluctuations in your weight. It's important to focus on your overall progress and health rather than just the numbers on the scale.

Remember to take care of yourself both physically and emotionally during this process, and don't hesitate to reach out to your surgical team or support group for help and guidance.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
