Where do you get the clear premiere Protein Drinks? I got the proteinh2o . It's not bad. I'm going to drink it more. I think I need to keep it cold instead of just drinking it as is.

Do those have caffeine?

I am now 5 weeks post-op and I think I experienced my first taste of dumping syndrome yesterday. I had a chopped-up turkey sausage with some shredded cheese and a little mustard and I must have eaten it too fast because within minutes my stomach was cramping and I felt like I was going to throw up. This lasted for a couple of hours and then I got some pretty intense gas pain in my chest, which lasted close to an hour. On top of that I couldn't keep any Water down during this time, so I got dehydrated......and the worst part was when I got hiccups on top of all of that.

I had this exact meal the day before and everything settled fine, so I'm guessing I must have just eaten too fast.

Don't forget the rule, "chew for 22" 22 times of chewing. Put your fork/spoon down after each bite. Wait a minute or two after a few bites. I don't know of what I had a few nights ago was dumping or not, but I ate some fruit with no added sugar in one of those fruit cups with a side of sugar free cool whip mixed with sugar free pudding. I had like stomach cramps all night. With gas cramps too. I felt like crap. But this whole thing is a new learning experience. I won't be having that again tho lol. How are you feeling?

I can't believe that I'm already 3 weeks out now. I had some meatloaf last night, I know it's not puree, but it was definitely soft. It was the best thing ever! Lol I can't get over how amazing it was. I was so happy and satisfied since I haven't been wanting food. Things haven't tasted good. But that, omg! Lol plus, has anyone just stick to Water? Because I feel like the drink mixes are too sweet and hurt my throat haha. It doesn't satisfy my tastebuds. So water it is. Not a bad thing, but I do want something different too..

It's crazy how much tastes change! I used to love pickles and now I can't stand them. The first week or so postop I couldn't do cold water and didn't really want room temp water so I drank a lot of gatorade zero. I tried the gatorade zero Protein, but could not deal with the after taste. Last week though everything started to taste really sweet so I went back to water and have no issues now with cold water. When I feel like I want something other than water, I just grab a crystal light packet and add it in. fruit punch is my favorite flavor, but I have to double the water I mix it with because it's pretty strong.

Monday was 4 weeks postop for me and it's amazing how much difference 10 days can make! Physically, I feel totally fine - no remaining soreness or pain. My doctor cleared me for soft foods including "chewing non-soft foods to an applesauce consistency" so I haven't stuck to any specific foods but still trying to figure out what works for me which is mostly chicken and shrimp. I finally hit the (delayed) 3 week stall and haven't seen the scale move at all this week, but I'm keeping my motivation up with exercise and hope to see that big dip soon. :)

It really is weird. Like I love the ricotta cheese in our lasagna, I made the ricotta bake the same way, it's definitely not the same. Then I made buffalo dip and that's not the same either, it's good, but now the texture gags me lol. I can't stand gatorade zero anymore, well the one that I like, I'm gonna try orange. Going grocery shopping later and craving an orange flavor. The fruit punch is really strong, I have to do the same thing. I think im gonna try making a slushy with it later to see if I like it that way with a lot of ice. Have you tried it that way?

I had no soreness or pain really. Glad you feel better! The stage I'm on is puree/soft foods. What exactly is considered soft foods? I'm really craving pickles and cucumbers. Next stage is soft solids. I figured out that pudding mixed in with cool whip doesn't sit good or Kodiak pancake in a cup lol I know it's too early for that. That's probably why, but im gonna still avoid it. Shrimp sounds really good too lol.

I think im at the 3 week stall as well. Do you count the ounces too? Well the ounces keep moving but that is it. It's frustrating and it's hard to avoid the scale. Weight was dropping, now it stopped. But how? We're not eating much.

Oooh no I've never tried it that way! I'll have to remember that in the summer time.

I know some people do better with avoiding the scale, but I do not 😩. I weigh myself at the same time everyday and every little 0.1lb movement is encouraging to keep going. My scale doesn't list ounces, but it does go to the 1/10th pound, so I do track it like that. I have a garmin scale so everytime I weigh it syncs to my app so I have all my activity tracking from my watch and my weight progress in the same spot.

After a week of very little scale movement, it dropped 2 lbs this morning so I think I'm over the stall! I'm cleared for working out so I've just started back in the gym last week and I added some jogging in yesterday as well so I think that will help keep things moving more than just walking or biking.

Is it okay to drink Vitamin Water?

I tried the sonic water flavor packets that way and it taste much better. You should definitely try it this summer 🙂

I dont either. Its so hard. But I know right? The my ounces went up by 7 ounces. Frustrating! Maybe not eat my last meal so late. Probably my issue as well. I have a weight watchers scale. I can't wait to start going to the gym! I plan on starting at week 5. I have a friend who agreed to go with me 3 times a week. Things should hopefully move better right? I'm only going to start with walking and the bike. Then each week increase the time by 10 minutes. Once I get cleared to do other exercises, I plan on 30 minutes of cardio then whole body workouts on the machines. Eventually increase cardio up to 45 minutes then whatever time it takes to do the other workouts. I have a fitbit watch that I should start using too.

Yay! That's awesome! How much are you down so far since surgery?

That will definitely help! I started doing 30 min of stationary bike on week 3 - just be really careful about how much you're exerting and make sure you're well hydrated. Prior to sx I was in the gym 2-3 times a week and definitely miss being able to guzzle half a bottle of Water when I start feeling too hot.

29 lbs as of this morning - 4 weeks and 3 days postop! It feels really good and I'm actually starting to notice some differences in clothes. 30% to my goal!

This biggest challenge in the post-op process hit me this week. Work was so busy with presentations, I didn't have time to follow my nutrition schedule. Barely ended each day with my Protein Shakes, only one meal instead of two, and no where near my Water goal.

A couple of times felt so overwhelmed, knowing that I was not taking care of my needs.

I’m not back at work yet but this is something that I’m afraid of too. Before surgery I would often skip meals because of jumping from one meeting to another. I’m hoping that meal planning and having plenty of ready to eat/drink options will help

Don't feel bad, I'm having trouble reaching my Water goals and Protein as well. I heard for some people it can take time. It makes it harder to get the water in due to wait time after eating keep your water bottle next to you at all times if you can.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
