Hi All,

I had surgery 10 months ago and hit my 18 month goal at 6 months. However, since then I fluctuate 2+/- lbs for the last 4 months. I have lost 2 pants sizes, about 6 inches from my waist, and gained about 3 inches on my hips. I can’t get past 140/142 lbs on the scale. I have increased my Protein, watched my carb intake, increased my exercise and still haven’t dropped past 140 lbs. has any had this happen? My dietician still hasn’t responded after multiple attempts of outreach.

Like you I went months without losing and I had to accept that I was not going to reach my second goal. My body was just happy where it was. The fact that you say you are losing inches though makes me think that maybe you should hang in there trying for a bit longer though and see if you are just gaining muscle weight. Losing inches is still losing. I was not exercising other than walking so that was for sure not what was going on for me but possibly what is happening for you. I would wait until I went months without losing on the scale or the measuring tape before I threw In the towel.

As mentioned above you probably are gaining muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. As long as something is moving (inches) then you ARE losing. If nothing moves at all then it would be maintenance, but I don't think you're there quite yet. I'd say not to stress about it, but I'm sure it's next to impossible not to.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
