Drinking water with a fill.

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 5-6-04 and have not had a fill yet. My starting weight was 249 my weigh now is 205, but I have been at 205 for almost 2 months give and take. I can eat anything and any quanity. I have learned how to make better choices with the band and try harder not to eat too, too, much. I know I need a fill but I am so scared of one. I was hoping to be one of those persons who never needed a fill even if it took 2 years to loose the weight. One of the things that scares me so is drinking water! I love to gulp Water and I freak at the thought of not being able to do that. Also I take some non coated pills and quite a few. Also I have never PBed. I am so scared of that. I have a little bit of a gag reflex. Mostly I am afraid of not getting to gulp. Please let me know about your drinking abilities...Thank you...Janie

Janie, I have had 3 fills and I am still able to drink my Water without sipping it.. Come on girl go and get a fill..you got the band for it to work at the best of its ability right? Well it works best when inflated which means getting fills. There is nothing to be afraid of. You will still be able to drink water silly. I am at 2.5cc's and am still able to take my pills also without it getting stuck

Janie, you're doing something right! You've done great! I understand what you mean. I'm really leary of getting too tight and having serious problems too.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
