I hit one for a while but am 45 lbs away from my goal and according to my dr I only have a few more weeks to reach it. He wanted me there by the 6th month and I don’t see it happening… I am so disappointed!

We should have a whole year and even more to reach our goal. Everyone is different so its sad if your surgeon put that stress on you to do it extra fast. As long as your weight is not going up and still trending down then you are doing great. No idea why they would expect you to reach a certain weight by a certain date. Hugs!

He said there is a possibility of regaining the “hunger” after 6 months so that was his reasoning for wanting it all gone by then. Apparently he is the only doctor that is so strict cause everyone I know said a year as well…

That's fantastic! Way to go! Hang in there, the hair will grow back, that 60 lbs is a great trade-off for the temp Hair loss, although while it's happening, it's hard to see the temporary part of it, right? That was what bummed me out, too. Hard to see the upside - except when we look further down in the mirror!

as of today, i have officially lost 100 pounds since my gastric bypass in september 2022! i still have 65 pounds to go and 50 pound until onederland, but im feeling so optimistic right now! :D

i am going to be traveling next month and ive been worrying about fitting in the airplane seats, but i think im good.. hopefully anyway. im wearing a size 16 pants and somewhere between a large and xlarge tops. nothing i own fits anymore! xD

my tummy system has turned a corner within the past month. i no longer feel nauseous when i try and eat anything, and im able to eat thin toasted breads, and raw vegetables finally.

as far as exercise is concerned, my legs are getting stronk and my upper body is so far behind. im still losing hair.. i have a full hairbrush of hair lost everyday.. im surprised i have any left. o.O i hope you guys are doing well! ❤️

Congrats!! 100 lbs is amazing!! You should have no trouble at all in the seats if you are wearing a size 16. Hope its a fun trip! At least the travel itself will be fine. Glad you are feeling better and can eat better and are doing so well with exercise too! Sounds like you are doing beautifully :) Thank you for the update. Its great to hear how people are doing.

I asked my dr today about the Hair loss and he said to start taking Biotin and that it usually lasts until the 9th month. I'm so sad to hear that I might have 3 more months of this because I'll have none left! Oh well, it'll grow back I guess.

I'm glad you all are talking about this. The Hair loss has been horrible for me. I have lost around 65 lbs since surgery, ninety-five total, still have about 60 more to go.

The Biotin my Dr told me to take does seem to be helping. I'm still losing hair but its like half of what I was losing. I'll take every bit of help I can get lol. Sounds like you are doing great though - good job! Hope our hair issues are a thing of the past soon.

may update time! i just got back from a month and a half long trip to peru (iykyk)! first off - i fit in the plane seats! i lost about 30 lbs while i was in peru and i feel amazing. my hair has seemed to have finally stopped falling out and i’ve got tons of inch-long whispies of new Hair growth coming back in.

food-wise, my stomach-pouch has DEFINITELY started letting me feel my restriction. i read somewhere that it might take six months for nerve endings to grow back in the tummy pouch and man i can really feel it. i can probably eat around 1/2 to 3/4 cups of food at a time and i have a very obvious cutoff. i have to be more careful with my hydration intake now, too. until recently, i haven’t really needed to wait very long after eating to resume drinking Water, but now i have to wait 15ish minutes or i get nauseous or throw up.

i just started going back to the gym after being gone for a month and a half. i think i lost quite a bit of muscle while i was on vacation, but i’m working on building my strength back up. :) i have a very active home life; i have a farm with a dozen goats, and two dozen chickens, and four herding dogs, and a large vegetable garden to manage, and fields to till and seed. it’s been busy!

i feel great and feel like all my hard work is paying off. :) i’m currently a size 14 / large, and i own zero clothes that fit. yesterday, i sorted through all my clothes that don’t fit and they’re in the wash right now so i can donate them to a secondhand store.

i hope you guys are doing well! i really felt tons different once i passed the six-months post-op mark, and i’m curious if that’s been your experiences as well. :)

Wow, you are doing amazing!! Thank you for sharing how you are doing. I keep wondering how our group is progressing. You look wonderful and sounds like you are on a great track. My progress has slowed down sooo much. I even adjusted my goal to just hit normal weight so that it would look closer and help my brain mentality. I am really close but I sat at the same weight for almost 2 months and just last week had a nice 5 lb loss all at once. So I'm guessing it was the breaking of the stall at last, But these last 10 lbs and hopefully more might take me another year at the rate I'm going. My restriction is still the same, which was never very restricted to begin with. I'm still not super hungry yet which I'm happy about. My Hair loss is slowing and I have baby hairs sprouting up in curls which looks weird but I'm happy to have them. I need to get back into the positive mindset because these last few month of no loss or very little loss has been depressing and I need to start appreciating all the good changes. Thank you for updating though and I hope more people come back and update too :)

Hi there! On second week of post gastric surgery, down 23 pounds from pre diet, so 4 weeks of shakes! Feeling great, stomach is healing !

Glad you are feeling so well so fast! The liquid diet was the hardest, hopefully you can move to more interesting food soon. The time does go faster than I expected though. Great job on the weight loss!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
