October 2022 surgery support

Recommended Posts

Congratulations to all of us October surgery buddies!!! 🥳🎉

I just want to encourage everyone that you will all do just fine! It is a mind thing so think positive throughout the pre-op phase and your post-op phase should be just fine.

I am on day 9/21 of my liquid diet and will be getting the DS on October 19th. I am overly excited to continue my journey & so far day 3 & 6 were the days I craved the most. I keep a journal of how I feel on each day & if there has been any changes to my body. When I do get cravings I tend to drink a bottle of Water first to see if that helps & if it doesn’t I grab a Protein Shake or my low sodium chicken broth & pretend I’m eating whatever I was craving LOL

I'm a little sore from where they pulled the portion of my stomach out. I'm walking around like normal. I'm using Tylenol Extra Strength for pain. I have awful gas but its starting to pass. I cant get the recommended 64oz of liquids down. I don't have an appetite at all. I was 241 pre-op...I'm already down to 235. I haven't had a bowel movement since Sunday preop so I'm wondering if that's normal.

I had my sleeve done at 7:30am on the 4th, they kept me in the hospital 2 nights, I was released a few hours ago. The most sore incision is the one they pulled my stomach through. I've been focusing on getting enough fluids, have no appetite at all so haven't even tried a Protein Shake yet. Had a lot of nausea the first 36 hours and was on Zofran that whole time to help with the nausea. It's improved now, not 100% but not so bad I was afraid I was going to vomit. My 2 biggest issues are getting up and moving enough and not getting enough fluids I've been trying to force fluids but after a few small sips I start feeling the pressure on my chest they warned was a sign of having too much so I have no idea how I'm going to get enough fluids. I slept the majority of the time in the hospital and still am sleepy and kind of want to just sleep but need to remind myself to keep getting up and walking around at least for a few min.

Devastated to say the least...surgery Monday 10th, but i have tested positive for Covid. 😞

Rescheduling the surgery. At least i have lost some weight through the LRD - every cloud has a silver lining.

I'm getting so nervous and also excited! Just 11 days to go! every time I wonder if im making the right decision I am reminded by some health issue or a painful joint. Today it was feeling huge in my hair stylists tiny chair and how embarrassed I felt to feel and look so squished into it.

I'm also looking forward to my HS hopefully going into remission or at least getting manageable!!

Can anyone share with me what their first week was like home? I spend 4 days at the hospital and come home to an empty house on the 21st. My husband wont be home until the 24th- is it smart to ask for a friend to stay with me the first night or two? I'm concerned I may have issues standing up after sitting/laying down the most.

If you have some one willing I'd say yes!

Oh love 😭 hopefully they reschedule you fast. They didn't even test me till I was on the floor in my room. After surgery!

After reading some of the post op, the main discomfort is gas pains, I wonder if gas x will help alleviate this?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
