I’m the 21st as well. I’m on day 7 of the pre-op diet and have lost 12.5 lbs. I gave up Diet Coke a couple months ago after about a 30 year addiction lol. My grandkids are here this week but I’m doing well so far. Already been postponed twice so I’m ready for this one!

Won't be long now! Are you getting excited or nervous?

Hi everyone,

it's almost time! I'm excited, but exhausted. I think the liquid diet has got to be causing me some fatigue, despite consuming plenty of Protein. Although I have not slept 1 good night since beginning the liquid diet, so maybe that is contributing to the tiredness.

Everyone holding steady and still on course for the 21st?

It went well, thank you! All my paperwork, and my blood work is done. I’m stocked up on everything I think I could possibly need at home. Now I’m going through the house and doing a big deep clean. I’m neither excited or nervous yet…. I almost feel like it won’t happen! I finished all my pre op things back on November 3rd but covid shut down my center and I was told that my surgery would be this month, then next month so many times that it doesn’t feel real! Haha! If you believe in prayer will you say one for me and my surgery that things so well?

Today is the last day of solid food for a while. Tomorrow only liquid. Feeling a little emotional but I know its for the best. For anyone reading this... Please keep me in your prayers, surgeries havent always gone well for me in the past and I'm trying to stay positive. 💜

Surgery went perfect according to the doc, I'm doing great, the gas pain was tolerable. Had to get up and walk a bunch and you learn real quick on what you thought was a sip is not a sip lol ..... Other than that I feel great and I'm happy its overwith.

My VSG was yesterday morning. Went perfectly well. I was pretty groggy yesterday but walked around the hallways a few times and hit my Water goal. Gas pain has been reasonable. My ox-sat is low so I am on oxygen right now. Will go home later!

My VSG revision to GBP went smoothly. Arrived at 8:45 am and went home at 6 pm. I was happy not to stay overnight because it’s hard to sleep and every time you do sleep, the nurses want to wake you up. Unfortunately sleeping at home wasn’t much better. I couldn’t get comfortable. Pain is tolerable, more uncomfortable. Gas seems barely there. I was able to belch a bunch before I left to hospital. Goal today is to get my liquids in.

Hope everyone is else is doing well.

How was your surgery? How are you feeling today?

I don't have my surgery till July 27th. However, I see where you might have thought that lol. I meant that "today was the day" for you 😂. Sorry for the confusion, but thank you for asking!

I'm so glad to hear everything went well! Hopefully, you don't have too much discomfort.

Sorry missed this topic until now. I was a June 21 peep. Sleeve - went very well. Surgery at 11a. Took my first walk around 5p. Was able to stop being dizzy and drop the walker after a few steps. Go discharged yesterday around 2:30p. sleep went really well. Pain is very tolerable without pain killers. Feeling very lucky. But following all the eating, walking, etc. instructions to the letter.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
