Am I the only one who some days has no appetite and then turn around the next and feel almost no restriction? I’m only three months post op. I have been increasing my workouts recently so I don’t know if that is playing a part. I just feel like some days my appetite is non stop and I’m so afraid of stretching my pouch.

YES! You'll sort of get used to it. I'm assuming that some days you feel like grazing and other days you basically forget to eat?

Yes! That’s exactly it. Thanks, I don’t feel completely crazy for thinking this way.

For me, it's more about what I eat... if I eat junk food (chips, Cookies, sweets) I feel like I can eat a lot, but if I eat solid Protein like chicken or deli meat, I can't eat much at all. But, some days I'm more hungry than others, and I think this has to do with how busy I am - if I'm really busy and not thinking about food, I'm not that hungry

I agree, when I’m really busy I usually forget to eat but when I’m just sitting at home I will snack. Just a reminder that a big portion of this mental.

Yes yes and yes! I go through the same thing. I’m 3 1/2 months out and some days a couple bites will fill me up quick(sometimes it’s also because I don’t chew it completely) like today every piece of meat I eat is filling me up so quick. I think the more our stomach heals, it settles on the smaller size it’s supposed to be.

But on other days I can eat close to 1200 calories. Between the Protein, the milk I drink, Snacks, vegetables & fruit. I’m glad I track because then I don’t feel bad about it because it’s all good things I put in. (Except maybe a 60 calorie ice cream snack from Aldi…lol)

but for me what you are describing is normal. Can’t say it will be later for now it is.

I keep telling myself that it’s normal to eat over 1000 calories as long as I’m getting in my Protein and eating the right things. It’s hard not to freak out though🫤.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
