Just getting started on this journey. I had my first appointment with the surgeon and dietitian then found out that with number of visits my insurance requires I needed to make these appointments on different days and not in the same week. Will have to add one more requirement to be in compliance. I am under the BMI of 40 but I have co-morbidities that make me eligible for the surgery. I also have started the nutrition plan and use Isopure vanilla flavored which is pretty good with fruit or vanilla extract and cinnamon.

I'm a few months in, on my journey. My insurance requires 6-months of nutrition visits. My last visit will be the first week of August. I hope and pray that I'll be able to have the surgery late August or September!

I've completed all of my other requirements - psych eval, endoscopy, mammogram.

Thankful I do not have to complete six months before I can have my surgery that was one thing I prayed I would not have to do. I hope it does not make you anxious while going through this period.

I wish I didn't have to wait quite so long. But, it hasn't been too bad. I've joined the support group that my surgeon offers and the other members have been a big help.

The wait has also given me time to practice some of the things that they want us to do after surgery. I've been trying different Protein Drinks, practicing not eating and drinking at the same time, trying to get away from soda, eating slower, etc.

In addition, it's given me time to acquire some post-surgery things that I think I'll want, like tiny little baby food jars to store my food in, freezer molds, I plan on getting an abdominal band, etc. If I had to buy all that stuff in a short period of time, I think it would have been financially difficult.

So, yeah, it would be nice to have it done and over with. But, I think there's also some good things about waiting. :)

Welcome and congratulations. Yea I said that even for people that are self pay that they should probably make them wait ar least a short time because there is so much information to learn that it takes more than one appointment to absorb it all.

Thank you!

I am so appreciative of all the information that I'm getting from my Nutritionist and the weight loss surgery team in general. I do think that the education component is very important - I would say it's as important as the surgery itself.

The surgery is a tool. The education is a tool. When both tools are used at the same time, success comes easier, I'm sure.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
