Yes, there are a lot of variations & factors that influence your rate of loss. I’d lost all my weight by 6 months so 31kg (68lbs). I lost another almost 12kgs over about the next 11 months (got slower & slower). Wasn’t intentional. Just trying to sort out maintenance & it seemed to be where my body wanted to be.

Hiya, not at 6 months yet, but at 5 months I have lost 61lbs, results may vary I've always lost weight easily and I struggled with nausea initially and basically only ate cheese and Protein Shakes for the first 2 months so was very in Keto.

Ive heard that typically people lose between 30-40% of their excess weight by the 6 month period, anecdotally, from stalking others' posts on this, most seem to lose about 70lbs who started high 200s low 300s.

Mandatory disclaimer: we are all different and lose (or gain) weight at different rates.

with that said, and since you asked (in lbs):

235 start of 2 week pre op diet

138 at 6 months post op (-97lbs)

127 at 7 months (goal)

119 this morning at 3.5 years post op

P.S. I’m 5’2” for reference.

I weighted 304lbs surgery day (highest weight ever) and have lost 105lbs so far being 6 months and two weeks out. I’ve had several stalls one lasting an entire month. It’s going comparatively slow now with “just” 1kg per week. I’m 5’8 so my surgeon wants me to lose another 40lbs.

I'd lost 75 lbs at the six month point (not counting what I'd lost pre-surgery). But there are so many factors that affect your rate of weight loss that there's really not an "average" amount of weight lost at any given time. If you stick to your program, you'll lose - whether fast or slow.

Thank you for the responses, Im so happy to see that everyone has done so well with their weight loss. Its very encouraging. Dually noted that each person's weight loss varies and there is no real average per se, I hope I do as well as everyone else here but honestly Ill just be glad to see the scale going in the opposite direction for once ;)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
