Abdominal Bloating or Gas?

Recommended Posts

👋🏼 Everyone! My first solo post haha. Long time Lurker. Had Sleeve surgery w/HH repair on 2/28. Definitely went through buyers remorse the first 2 days. Mostly due to gas and incision pain.
Today I am moving around much better still not quite getting all my Protein in but I know it will come. Preop I lost 42lbs, not sure how much post yet.

My issue is I have bad gas or bloat in my abdominal area. I didn’t have chest, shoulder, back gas pains it’s only been in my stomach area. I’ve been walking, walking, I pass some gas but not a ton. It’s like the gas is just floating around in there and my bottom part is sealed it up in there like a tomb if that makes sense. I don’t have Heartburn, nausea, or any vomiting, or pain in my chest area at all so I don’t think it’s Gerd.

Could I still have surgical gas in my abdomen this far out? And does Water help expel it if I continuously drink? No Bowel movement yet either. I take my Omeprazole, Colace as well as some Miralax sometimes with my water.

I’m still on Clear/Full liquids until 3/16 and I had a 1 week liquid diet the week before surgery.

any help is appreciated!

it can take a week for the first BM. I'm glad to hear you're taking Colace and Miralax, though - because that first one can be a doozy!

Hey! I had the sleeve done on Feb 23, and I'm still looking for answers! It's been so hard for me. Even through out my meals I'm burping a ton, sometimes even 2 tips of Water and I'm immediately burping for 25 minutes. I don't know if the gas just didn't come out as fast as it should've or if I'm condemned to this so far in. My doctor made no comment about it but it's definitely bothering me being that I don't know when I feel full and I kind of give that to my interrupted eating due to all the gas I'm expelling. Any tips you find would be super helpful, or even just insight from what you're experiencing. Is it anything like this? I'm taking Omeprazole too

Man I can’t imagine burping like that in between sips. I can see how you would be confused as to when you feel full or have trouble getting your fluids in 😩 My gas has all been abdominal. Luckily I haven’t experienced a lot of burping or chest gas nothing at all really up top. Today though I have passed a lot of gas the other way.

If you’re not taking huge sips and you don’t feel any burn like from heartburn and it also doesn’t accompany Dizziness, Nausea, and other pain, I think it’s just more time that needs to pass in order for all of it to expel.

Definitely take your Omeprazole, Gas-X. I also incorporate Colace & Miralax and it is making a huge difference and of course walk. Not getting your liquids in makes it actually worse if you can believe that I’ve learned that the hard way. I would give it another few days.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
