Surgery on 2/25 - Liquid Diet on 2/20

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I'm anxious and pretty excited about my upcoming surgery! 🙂Counting down the days...Just 9 days left! I can't believe it's almost here! :624_alarm_clock:

When I went in for my final dietician appointment today she told me that my BMI was in close range that I may have been able to forego the 5 day liquid diet but it didn't happen. I still have to do it. No worries...I am prepared for it.

For those that have gone before me...Any tips or suggestions to make it easier or more tolerable? I assume preparation is the key!

Any tips and for day of or post op surgery pain relief?

Praying that everyone has great success with their surgery and weight loss!❤️

Exciting that your surgery is coming up. Still waiting on preop testing for me :( Lol. you are lucky that you may not have to do the liquid pre op diet... I have seen on here people have to do it up to 3 weeks or more. As for pain i personally stocked up on Vicodin pills and marijuana lol. idk what kind of pain meds they will give me once i am done with surgery so i wanna be prepared. I dont do pain well lol

I had a 3 week veg diet and it was 3 weeks too long IMO but I gritted my teeth and got through it. It taught me some big lessons like I could exist with out takeaway. At 62 years old I expected the operation pain to be brutal but I had no pain and no painkillers. I could jump in and out of the hospital bed, which was a blessing as I had the worst tummy upset. My last veg meal was a curried concoction that would have caused it and I should have known better. I was told not to shower till the stitches came out, 3 weeks ! Eeuw thats nasty, so I wrapped my middle in Cling wrap and managed { I dont know what you call cling wrap in the US } I bought gummy vitamins, soluble Calcium, Soups, broths and low calorie popsicles and a few different kinds of Protein Drinks. Dont over buy anything your taste buds will change. If you have time on your hands read back pages of the forum, I did and found it so useful. Good luck and keep us posted on your recovery and ask away, there is always somebody on the forum at any time of the day

Thanks so much @summerseeker for sharing!

I have prepped with a few things that I like now and a few things that I think I may want to try post op. I didn't go overboard on any one particular thing as I have read that taste buds can and do change.

I have a few good books that I need to read so I figure that now would be a good time to get caught up on my reading! 📖

I usually tolerate pain fairly well and think that I will do well but of course, we never know until we get there.

Thanks again for responding! I will update soon with how things are going for others that may be beginning their journey behind me!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
